Senior Architectural Technician / Technologist

Location: Birmingham

Contract Type: Permanent, Full-time

About The Role

We are looking for a Senior Architectural Technician / Technologist to join our talented and motivated team in the Birmingham Studio, stepping into an established role within our friendly and collaborative team.

As a Senior Architectural Technician / Technologist, you will enjoy an interesting mix of responsibilities, including:

  • Producing high quality technical drawings and supporting documentation in line with Corstorphine & Wright’s Quality Management procedures
  • Acting as Project Manager where required, ensuring technical services are delivered efficiently, on time and within budget
  • Maintaining up to date knowledge of legislation, Building Regulations, Building Bulletins and Health & Safety requirements
  • Ensuring full implementation of Corstorphine & Wright’s Quality Management System
  • Managing the production of detailed design drawings, working drawings, schedules and specifications using CAD and/or BIM
  • Arranging project reviews to help resolve technical challenges
  • Maintaining accurate project records through CMAP (with training provided)
  • Ensuring clear understanding of Appointment Documents, Scopes of Services and construction contract obligations
  • Reporting potential PI claims or risks to Directors
  • Mentoring junior technical team members and supporting their development
  • Attending project, studio and site meetings and ensuring high quality communication across all parties
  • Managing confidential information appropriately
  • Supporting the maintenance of strong relationships with clients, contractors, colleagues and external stakeholders

About You

We are looking for candidates who possess the following experience and skills:

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience delivering projects independently through multiple RIBA stages
  • Strong BIM and CAD capability with proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD
  • HNC/HND in a related discipline, or significant relevant professional experience
  • Membership of CIAT or working towards chartered status
  • Strong knowledge of UK Building Regulations and associated technical standards
  • Ability to manage workload, make clear decisions and meet demanding deadlines
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively and share knowledge
  • Experience liaising with clients, contractors, consultants and third parties
  • Strong organisational and planning skills
  • Excellent communication skills
