About the Role

We’re looking to recruit a Senior Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB) Officer (for a secondment/acting-up opportunity) to join the Council’s ASB team. We require a motivated and dedicated officer with:

  • A penetrative commitment to quality community safety services
  • Relevant qualifications and/or experience
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills
  • A pragmatic and flexible approach

Key Responsibilities

  • Management and Supervision

    • Regular supervisory responsibilities over staff to ensure policies and procedures are followed.
    • Manage staff competencies and ensure case management excellence.
  • Leadership in ASB

    • Lead high-level interventions such as Civil Injunctions, Criminal Behaviour Orders, and Premises Closure Orders.
    • Manage complex ASB cases involving interventions, mediation, and support for colleagues.

  • Legal and Court Engagement

    • Work with the legal team to progress cases through courts, including:
      • Taking witness statements
      • Compiling evidence bundles
      • Attending hearings
      • Presenting cases in court
  • Investigations and Enforcement

    • Conduct comprehensive investigations into anti-social behaviour claims.
    • Seek resolutions via low-level interventions/ASB remedies.
  • Inter-agency Coordination

    • Liaise with:
      • Police and neighbourhood officers
      • Selective Licensing Team
      • Community Safety and other relevant agencies
  • Case Management

    • Maintain up-to-date case management documentation.
    • Monitor and enforce ASB interventions in the borough.
    • Conduct regular case reviews with other ASB officers.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Expertise in applying the full range of ASB powers under the Anti-social behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014 in a local authority context.
  • In-depth knowledge of relevant legislation: ASBP Act 2014, environmental crime, noise, and nuisance guidelines.
  • Experience in monitoring service providers and compiling data for performance reports.
  • Leadership in successful enforcement operations with partners.
  • Proven ability to prepare and present cases for legal proceedings.
  • Represent senior management effectively and supervise staff.
