English Speaking Board (International) Ltd. https://esbuk.org/ is recruiting a number of Senior Assessors (ESOL Skills for Life) to ensure the quality of our external assessment activities.

This is an exciting opportunity to join the ESOL Skills for Life assessment team and play a key leadership role in supporting learners, tutors and assessors, ensuring every interaction that our customers and assessors have with ESB reflects our values and commitment to quality.

As a specialist awarding organisation, ESB International creates, assesses and awards qualifications for Oracy and English language to 40,000 learners annually, across 12 countries. Our learner numbers and assessor teams are increasing rapidly and we are recruiting Senior Assessors for our ESOL Skills for Life team of assessors, markers and moderators.

With 18 Head Office colleagues, 90 assessors and markers out in the field and over 250 centres and international clients we are a busy and constantly evolving workplace.

The main activities of this leadership role:

  • To support centres from onboarding to delivery of our ESOL Skills for Life qualifications
  • To recruit, train, standardise, moderate and support assessors and markers to ensure that every learner is assessed fairly and every centre has a positive experience with ESB
  • To manage quality assurance activities to meet and exceed our regulators’ requirements
  • To support the Educational Delivery team in developing resources and products

These roles are open to external applicants and ESB assessors and markers. They are carried out in addition to any contracted role as an assessor/marker. To ensure currency, the Senior Assessor is expected to assess at least 5 days a year.

Role Description:

  • 104 contracted days across an academic year
  • Daily fee £205
  • Home-based with the possibility of some office-based activities
  • Significant travel across the UK to deliver in person training at centres or moderating assessors

Qualifications and experience

  • ESOL teaching qualifications at Level 5 or above
  • Recent, relevant teaching experience
  • Substantial experience as an assessor, examiner or marker
  • Experience or qualifications in language assessment would be an advantage
  • Confident with technology and working both face-to-face and remotely
