Key Accountabilities
- Lead the creation and management of a multi-discipline Strategic Asset Management Plan (SAMP) for current and future control periods that integrates renewal, enhancement and maintenance interventions and aligns these to long term strategic business plans.

- Lead the production of asset management documents for Strategic Business Plan (current and future Control/Funding periods), including asset management plans and information required for periodic review processes.
- Lead the production of asset management processes for the Regional asset management system and manage compliance to the requirements of ISO 55001.
- Manage the interface at a renewal portfolio level between the Asset Management organisation (Capable Owner) and the delivery partner (Southern Integrated Delivery) and coordinate activities across Asset Management and Southern Integrated Delivery to meet contractual requirements.
- Provide direction and leadership to Route and Regional Engineering and Asset Management teams on long-term asset management planning to improve quality and business efficiency.
- Provide management information that demonstrates a clear link between strategic objectives and detailed asset management plans.
- Analyse and document current processes, workflows and information exchanges to identify opportunities to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
- Support the management of the regulatory interface within the Region, responding to queries and requests for information relating to engineering and asset management elements of the Strategic Business Plan.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
