The Opportunity
We’re looking for an experienced Senior Associate in Civil Engineering (equivalent to Associate Director roles in other firms) to join our established Ashford team and play a leading role in our continued growth. This is a great opportunity to guide a talented group of engineers and specialists and shape strategy across a wide range of development and infrastructure projects.
You will win new work and lead project delivery from early concept through to completion, build strong client relationships, and mentor junior colleagues. You’ll work closely with our multi-disciplinary teams to produce high-quality design outputs, develop solutions and manage delivery to our private and public sector clients.
This is an exciting opportunity to help grow an established and reputable business, leading a diverse portfolio of civil engineering across the region and to be involved in projects nationwide. Locally our multi-disciplinary infrastructure team in Ashford has a long history of delivering development planning projects to a diverse range of clients, including strategic land sites, as well as delivering to public sector clients.
Our team have a wealth of experience and will offer support, development opportunities and excellent advice. Working collaboratively amongst multidisciplinary teams, you will deliver a wide variety of project work and practice with a broad range of clients.
Role Overview
A Senior Associate is a senior technical and delivery leader, responsible for leading projects of a variety of scales and complexities or being discipline lead on large multi-disciplinary/multi-business line projects, managing key client relationships, and playing a significant role in business growth and team development.

As a Senior Associate you will work across a wide range of projects from large and complex strategic land development proposals through to smaller sites, alongside strategic infrastructure and public sector commissions. You will work across residential, strategic land, commercial and urban regeneration projects.
You will communicate and work collaboratively with project teams to provide high-quality deliverables to Stantec’s clients and ensure that all documentation adheres to client and company standards and expectations.
You will also work with the leadership team to support business development - work winning will be a critical part of this role.
Key Responsibilities
Team & People Leadership
- Lead and develop teams, including senior staff
- Set the standards for driving performance and culture
- Lead team capability, utilisation and growth
- Support succession planning and long-term team development
Project & Technical Leadership
- Oversee delivery of complex and multidisciplinary projects
- Act as Technical Lead on projects of a variety of scales and complexities
- Ensure strong commercial performance across projects
- Provide leadership on technical quality and risk management
Clients & Market Presence
- Lead client relationships and act as trusted advisor
- Take ownership of key project relationships and outcomes
- Represent Stantec in the market and industry forums
Business Development & Growth
- Play a leading role in work winning and opportunity conversion
- Lead or significantly contribute to bids and pursuits
- Support development of client strategies and growth plans
- Help build and maintain a sustainable pipeline of work
