Senior Associate

Job Title: Business Process Analyst / Trade Processing Specialist

You will:

  • Execute trade capture, governance, and control processes
  • Provide expert guidance on new strategies and transactional workflows
  • Maintain industry-leading audits and reconciliations
  • Serve as a strategic advisor for assigned business areas
  • Develop data-driven insights to enhance business decisions
  • Lead change management initiatives (training, stakeholder collaboration, execution)

Our selected professional will be the trusted backbone of transactional accuracy, bridging business needs, systems, and regulatory rigor.


Key Responsibilities

Operational Excellence

  • Trade Processing & Capture: Ensure timely, accurate booking of securities and trade transactions in all downstream systems.
  • Strategy Support: Assist in executing new strategies and capturing transactional details for accurate financial accounting and analytics.
  • Governance & Controls: Maintain robust governance practices over the trade capture process in compliance with BMO's risk framework.

Analytical & Strategic Influence

  • Data-Driven Insights: Break down complex trade/operational issues, presenting actionable recommendations and influencing business decisions.
  • Program Management: Develop and oversee business/group programs; assess effectiveness, integrate industry trends, and propose enhancements.
  • Cross-Stakeholder Collaboration: Engage with internal teams, vendors, and external clients to deliver results, blending technical and commercial expertise.

Leadership & Continuous Improvement

  • Billing Solutions & Improvements: Initiate assessments, design tools and training programs, and lead implementation (e.g., readying for new products/services).
  • Process & Compliance: Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements (AML, anti-fraud, risk appetite frameworks) and internal policies.
  • Risk-Focused Execution: Apply BMO’s Risk Management Framework; recommend sound, data-backed decisions that align with strategy while mitigating operational risks.

Transaction Cycle Support

  • React to audits and reconciliations by ensuring data accuracy and uncovering discrepancies.
  • Resolve non-routine issues efficiently—from client-facing direct issue resolution to escalating to senior management for exceptions.
  • Serve as primary backup for team members and manager where needed.

Essential Requirements

Experience & Knowledge

  • 5-7 years of direct experience in trade processing, transactional analytics, risk controls, or operations within a regulated environment (preferably banking/financial services).
  • In-depth expertise in:
    • Securities/transaction operations, systems (e.g., trade processing platforms), and standard industry compliance (e.g., T+1 regulations, back-office/netting processes).
    • rip consumer products/services; day-to-day troubleshooting under daily trade pressure.
    • Risk management frameworks (governance, compliance, risk appetite frameworks) and regulatory requirements (e.g., BCBS 239, AML, GDPR).
  • Technical competency in:
    • BI tools (SQL, Power BI, Informatica, or similar) for reporting and exception management.
    • Data analysis & reconciliation (Excel for advanced modeling/problem-solving).
    • MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)—not just competent, but adaptive and innovative in leveraging these tools.

Soft Skills (AND Anchor Competencies)

  • Analytical Mindset: Rapid diagnosis of issues, ability to synthesise information from multiple sources, strong problem-solving (e.g., deduplication, process automation).
  • Relationship Building: Serve as a bridge betweenagers/technical teams/external clients—demonstrating tact in stakeholder relations, adapting communication style for diverse audiences.
  • Business Acumen: Translate complex technology/regulatory demands into action-oriented strategies; align with bank strategy while maintaining governance.
  • Data-Driven Decisions & Judgment: Leverage data and predictive thinking; balance clientele needs, risk tolerance, and internal priorities.
  • Agility: Manage non-routine situations independently; prioritise issues efficiently under strict targets (e.g., handling multi-person audits concurrently).

Technical Tools

  • Must Proficiency:
    • Excel (pivot tables, formulae, conditional formatting, macros).
    • Basic scripting (helpful but not mandatory) for report customizations.
  • Recommended: Exposure to Bloomberg, Refinitiv, SWIFT, or trade-allocation platforms.

Pay:

  • Salary Type: fixed (scalable based on location skills, and performance-based rewards).
  • Range: per seniority/business unit; salaries reflect market alignment and may include commission/commission structures. Note: Exact pay tiers reflect business group needs; let your manager advocate for your best position.
  • International Roles: May adjust based on bonus/performance incentives (per compliance guidelines). For part-time, full proration as per hours according to your contract.
