The Team

A&M’s Restructuring practice has grown exponentially year on year since 2017 and we have attracted top performers at Partner level (and every other level of experience) from our competitors in the UK and across Europe. We now have over 200 people in the UK working on Turnaround, Restructuring & Insolvency matters.

A&M is independent and unrestricted by any audit conflicts. We have material Restructuring practices across the globe, including: USA, Canada, Caribbean, Europe, India, Middle East, Far East - and many of these are market leading in their individual markets. Given our global scale, we are able to seamlessly deliver cross-border Restructuring & Insolvency mandates, alongside our full-service UK Regional Restructuring offering. Our UK Restructuring practice has established offices in London, Birmingham, Manchester, Leeds, Dublin, Glasgow and Edinburgh.

We are winning and delivering work for clients at a rapid pace and, as a result, we are recruiting talented individuals to join this expanding team at Associate Director level in our Birmingham Restructuring and Insolvency team.

Our Birmingham team has grown rapidly since inception. Operating alongside colleagues in Corporate Finance, Tax and Transactions Advisory, we recently relocated to new offices to support further growth and to reflect A&M’s continued investment in the Midlands region.

How You Will Contribute

We are looking for individuals with experience working on advisory (IBRs, short term cash flow reviews, options analysis, and accelerated M&A processes) and insolvency (formal insolvency and contingency planning) assignments. You will play a key role in the day-to-day delivery of a wide-ranging portfolio of advisory and insolvency cases, working with many of the industry’s leading Managing Directors. In addition to a broad range of regional mid-market restructuring engagements, you will have exposure to multi-stakeholder and often multi-national restructuring advisory engagements and/or UK and cross border insolvency appointments.

Successful candidates will gain an exceptional range of experience, working on assignments across the restructuring spectrum. In addition, you will have the opportunity to be involved in business development and targeting activities.

Qualifications

The ideal candidates will be a ACA or ACCA qualified; JIEB or CPI are desirable but not essential.

  • Experience within the Restructuring or Financial Advisory team of a Big 4 or other large national practice or regional professional services firm.
  • Strong background in financial analysis, project managing a mixed case portfolio and supervising staff.
  • Up to date knowledge of insolvency legislation, relevant case law, SIPs and guidance from regulators and other government bodies.
  • Up to date technical knowledge, with a proven ability and desire to coach and develop more junior team members.
  • Demonstrable desire to build on existing skill sets and develop additional knowledge of all restructuring offerings with evident project experience in some / all of the following: company-side advisory projects, accelerated sale processes, IBRs, short term cash flow, formal insolvency and contingency planning.
  • Enjoy working as part of a team.
  • Capacity to thrive in a fast-paced, challenging, and uncertain environment.
  • Aptitude for business development and targeting.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
  • Objective, fact-based approach to problem solving.
  • Driven by values and integrity, building confidence and leading by example.
