Senior Associate, Climate, Energy and Water

Position Overview

This junior-level professional position reports to DAI’s Clients and Technical Practices (CTP) department, where you’ll play a pivotal role in driving annual new business targets, reinforcing company competitiveness, and ensuring technical and project delivery excellence. Serving as part of our climate, energy and water sector team, your work will be strategically significant and impactful.

This role requires the ability to work in the UK without sponsorship, with a hybrid schedule 2/3 days working in the London office and 2/3 days working remotely.

This is an urgent hire—we will begin reviewing applications immediately and encourage early applications to stay ahead of the process.


Responsibilities

Business Development Responsibilities

  • Work on climate, energy, and water-specific sector opportunities, supporting bid coordination/management, technical writing, research support, and recruitment support.
  • Identify upstream opportunities through direct engagement networks within and outside DAI.
  • Maintain engagement with selected clients, including:
    • Monitoring strategic developments
    • Developing client strategies
    • Structuring client engagement plans
  • Oversee and manage project and technical opportunities across the climate, energy, and water sector in DAI’s tracking tools, including:
    • Updating and ensuring quality assurance of data in the opportunity tracker.
    • Submitting sector-specific technical opportunities for weekly approval processes.
  • Maintain resource partner and technical network trackers.
  • Conduct and support technical research on trends in climate, energy and water, as well as diversification efforts.
  • Actively contribute to internal communities of practice and learning and knowledge management efforts/events.

Technical and Project Delivery Responsibilities

  • Associate Project Manager role for an ongoing climate project, including:

    • Tracking project budgets and profit margins in Excel, with financial monitoring and reporting focus.
    • Contributing to monthly client reports with financial/progress updates.
    • Supporting the wider project team with implementation, coordination, administration, and delivery.
    • Managing communication with partners via email and monthly meetings.
    • Consolidating partner inputs into client reports.
    • Developing technical skills relevant to DAI’s climate, energy, and water work.
    • Providing technical assistance in support roles, guided by senior oversight.
  • Allocating additional responsibilities as deemed necessary.


Qualifications & Skills

Minimum Requirements

  • At least 18 months of relevant administrative or professional experience, with a university degree (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
  • Passion for climate, energy, or water sectors, backed by evidence of technical knowledge.
  • Experience working on Request for Proposals (RFPs) in the following capacities:
    • Bid coordination/management
    • Recruitment support, technical writing, or research assistance
  • Strong administrative, analytical, and organizational abilities, including minutiae-conscious detail-oriented work.
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion.
  • Initiative to identify processes and problem-solve.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing demands, task priorities, or shifts in strategy.
  • Effective written and spoken communication, including communicating tailored, audience-specific information.
  • Proficiency in building and maintaining collaborative relationships with colleagues and diverse external stakeholders.
  • Willingness to adjust schedules supporting colleagues in different time zones/countries.
  • Regular presence long-term at DAI’s London office.

Preferred (Not Required)

  • Prior exposure to the Green Climate Fund, international climate funds, or similar finance models.
  • Proficiency with accelerated language skills (French, Spanish, Arabic).
  • Familiarity with CRM systems (Oracle).
  • Strong Excel proficiency, including budget/tracking and financial analysis skills.
