About the Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Construction Senior Associate (6+ PQE) to join a highly regarded Construction team in London.

This role offers the chance to work with an impressive portfolio of clients, including household-name organisations, advising on a broad range of high-profile non-contentious construction matters. You will play a key role in delivering commercially focused legal advice across development and infrastructure projects, real estate and corporate acquisitions and disposals, property finance transactions, and process plant contracts.

Working closely with experienced partners and a collaborative national team, you will contribute to complex, market-leading projects while helping to drive the continued growth of the practice. Candidates from both private practice and in-house or industry backgrounds are encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities

  • Advise clients on a wide range of non-contentious construction matters.
  • Draft, negotiate and advise on standard form construction contracts, including JCT and NEC.
  • Prepare and negotiate development agreements, process plant contracts and associated project documentation.
  • Support clients on development and infrastructure projects, real estate transactions, property finance matters, and corporate acquisitions and disposals.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships by delivering commercially focused legal advice.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across practice areas to provide integrated legal solutions.
  • Contribute to business development initiatives and the continued growth of the Construction team.
  • Mentor and support junior members of the team where appropriate.
  • For candidates with an interest in broadening their practice, there is the opportunity to undertake both non-contentious and contentious construction work.

About You

You will be a qualified solicitor with 6+ years' post-qualification experience and a strong background in non-contentious construction law.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Demonstrable experience advising on JCT and NEC construction contracts.
  • Expertise in development agreements, process plant documentation and related construction contracts.
  • Strong commercial awareness with excellent drafting and negotiation skills.
  • Experience acting for employers and developers, although candidates with contractor or supply-side experience are also encouraged to apply.
  • The ability to manage complex matters while delivering practical, client-focused advice.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • A collaborative approach and a willingness to mentor junior colleagues.

The Team

The Construction team advises on some of the UK's most significant construction and engineering projects, including major infrastructure developments, urban regeneration schemes, remediation projects and complex commercial developments.

The team provides strategic advice throughout the project lifecycle, from procurement and contract negotiation through to project delivery and dispute resolution. Clients include developers, contractors, consultants, public authorities, higher education institutions, funders and investors across a wide range of sectors.
