Senior Associate - Education
The opportunity
We are recruiting for a highly exciting and influential role within Stone King’s nationally renowned Education team, offering the opportunity to work on some of the most significant projects affecting the education sector. As a Senior Associate in our Projects team, you will play a leading role in advising a prestigious client base, helping independent schools and educational organisations navigate complex corporate, strategic and transformational projects.
If you're an experienced corporate lawyer with M&A experience and are looking to apply your expertise in a purpose-driven sector, this could be the perfect next step in your career. We're looking for someone who combines strong technical ability with commercial awareness, leadership skills and a genuine interest in supporting clients through critical moments of change and growth.
You’ll play a crucial role in delivering high-quality legal advice on complex transactions and projects, while helping to develop both client relationships and the next generation of legal talent within the team. Working alongside leading specialists in the education sector, you'll have the opportunity to build your profile, contribute to the firm's continued growth and establish yourself as a trusted adviser to some of the UK's leading educational institutions.
Based in either our Bath or London office, this role offers hybrid working and the chance to join a Tier 1 ranked team recognised by Chambers and Legal 500 for the quality of its work and client service.

What You’ll Be Doing
- Leading complex projects and transactions, ensuring exceptional client service and commercial outcomes.
- Independent school projects with the opportunity to assist in a vast array of other projects that the wider Education and Charity teams work on.
- Advising education sector clients on corporate transactions, mergers, acquisitions and strategic projects.
- Supervising, mentoring and developing junior colleagues, fostering a culture of learning and collaboration.
- Building and strengthening long-term client relationships while identifying opportunities for further support.
- Working closely with colleagues across the firm to deliver joined-up, sector-focused advice.
- Taking a leading role in business development activities, including networking, seminars, workshops, pitches and tenders.
- Contributing to the strategic growth of the practice through identifying new opportunities, markets and service offerings.
- Managing matters efficiently, maintaining strong financial discipline and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Staying at the forefront of legal and market developments affecting the education sector.
- Contributing to the continued success and reputation of one of the UK's leading Education practices.
What We’re Looking For
- ✔ Someone who has significant experience advising on corporate transactions, mergers and acquisitions, or complex project work – someone who has experience working in a corporate, Charity, or Education background now looking for a shift in work environment who has a keen eye on project work.
- An interest in the education sector and the challenges facing independent schools and educational organisations
- Experience supervising, mentoring and developing more junior team members
- Strong business development skills and a proven ability to generate opportunities and build client relationships
- Ability to independently manage complex projects and work collaboratively across multiple teams
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Strong organisational skills and commercial awareness
- A collaborative and solutions-focused approach to delivering exceptional client service

Desirable Experience
- ✔ Experience working with education sector clients or independent schools
- ✔ Knowledge of Education Law or Charity Law
- ✔ Experience leading client seminars, workshops, pitches or tender opportunities
- ✔ Established professional network within the education, charity or wider not-for-profit sectors
