About the Role
We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Associate Engineer to join our Operational Assets team, based in our Bristol office.

Hoare Lea delivers this service—and more—to our clients. Now, we’re expanding our Operational Assets Southwest team to meet growing market demand.
Our proven experience spans Public, Commercial, and Healthcare sectors, and success is built on collaboration with knowledgeable, engaged teams. Responsibilities include—but are not limited to:
- Technical delivery of MEP design services for multi-disciplinary projects across multiple building sectors.
- Producing deliverables such as specifications, drawings, and schedules.
- Providing technical advice to clients on operating MEP services in existing buildings.
- Supporting Fee Proposals by understanding and aligning with client briefs.
- Leading and delivering refurbishments and upgrades from inception to completion.
- Conducting condition surveys for MEP installations, then producing written reports and recommendations.
- Developing roadmaps for building interventions to achieve Net-Zero Carbon performance.
- Researching and delivering Feasibility Studies for infrastructure upgrades or replacements.
- Undertaking technical due diligence reporting.
- Reviewing development and fit-out proposals while assessing their implications on mechanical services.
- Engaging routinely with internal and external stakeholders, maintaining effective communication, and delivering collaboratively.
- Assisting with invoicing, debt collection, managing work-in-progress (WIP), and workload/resource planning for projects.
- Mentoring and supporting junior professionals such as apprentices and graduates.

- Supporting repeat business with existing clients

As the discipline grows, there are opportunities to:
- Manage tenders for small works/capital projects.
- Provide contract administration services.
- Author maintenance services tender specifications and manage the process.
About You
To succeed in this role, you’ll need:
- Proven experience as a Mechanical or Electrical Engineer (or a related role) with a strong track record in managing complex projects.
- Strong working knowledge of standards/codes applied in building services.
- Experience in existing building projects, preferably diverse.
- Demonstrable experience in client/contractor-facing roles,such as a design consultant.
- Evidence of self-awareness, openness to feedback, and an ability to nurture others.
- Experience in mentoring or supporting the knowledge, skills, and confidence of colleagues or juniors.
- Chartered Engineer status (or working toward chartered status).
