EMG Solicitors is an award-winning Legal 500 law firm with offices across the North but acting nationally, specialising in Court of Protection, Deputyships, Mental Health Law, Family Law and Mediation, Residential Conveyancing, Dispute Resolution, Education Law, and Wills, Trusts & Probate services.

What are we looking for?
We are currently looking to recruit a Senior Associate to join our Family team who ideally will be 5 years + PQE.
Where will you be based?
This role can be based from our Gosforth office, but we would expect you to travel and work from other offices from time to time.
How many hours will you be working?
This is a full-time role which is 35 hours per week, however, at EMG Solicitors we work flexibly, it’s not a 9 to 5 role, but we do expect the work to be done, when you do it can be largely up to yourself, your Team Leader, and the requirements of your clients.
A brief overview of the role:
This role sits within the Family Team. The successful candidate will be experienced and ambitious with around 5 years + PQE and the ability to advise and support clients on a wide array of family matters including Divorce, Financial Remedy, and Private Law Children Act cases.
What will we expect from you:
You will be:
- Responsible for a caseload of private family matters including:
- Divorce and Dissolution of civil partnerships
- Financial remedy
- Financial provision for children and separation agreements
- Cohabitation agreements
- Child arrangements
Additional Responsibilities
- Ability to manage client expectations and relationships
- Conscientious, hardworking, with developed critical thinking abilities and excellent communication, organization, and analytical skills
- Ability to work to strict deadlines, targets, and client protocols while maintaining high standards in terms of accuracy and quality
- A competent practitioner and advocate
- A focus on Excellence, particularly regarding Client Care
- Supervising junior staff
- Proficient file management and compliance hygiene
- A proven team player with the ability to work as part of a team
- Proven commitment to winning new client business through referral and business development activities

To be able to perform this job you will need:
- Qualified Solicitor with significant post-qualification experience in family law.
- Extensive experience managing a varied family law caseload, including divorce, financial remedy, private children matters, cohabitation disputes, pre- and post-nuptial agreements
- Strong technical knowledge of family law and current legislation, with the ability to provide practical, client-focused advice.
- Experience supervising, mentoring, or supporting junior colleagues and contributing to the development of the wider team.
- A genuine commitment to delivering exceptional client service and living our values of collaboration, compassion, and excellence.
- A willingness to contribute to networking, business development, and raising the profile of the Family team within the local community.
