The Opportunity
We are seeking a Senior Associate, Financial Crime to join our Group Risk & Compliance International team in London. Reporting to the Senior Manager – Financial Crime (MLRO), this role plays a key part in the design, delivery, and ongoing effectiveness of the Fund’s financial crime framework, with a particular focus on market abuse oversight.
This is a hands‑on second‑line role providing practical oversight, regulatory interpretation, and clear advice to the business. You will work closely with front‑office, operations, and senior stakeholders to ensure financial crime risks are identified, monitored, and managed in a proportionate and effective way.

- Provide second‑line oversight of the market abuse surveillance framework, including trade and communications surveillance, alert review, escalation, and system configuration.
- Assess and challenge market abuse and broader financial crime risks arising from trading activity, investment strategies, information flows, and conflicts of interest.
- Support the MLRO and senior management in maintaining up‑to‑date financial crime and market abuse risk assessments aligned with UK regulatory expectations.
- Lead or contribute to thematic reviews, deep dives, and trend analysis to identify emerging risks and control weaknesses.
- Advise the business on financial crime considerations relating to new products, markets, counterparties, and changes in trading activity.
- Support regulatory engagement, internal audits, and assurance activity, including coordinating responses and delivering agreed actions.
- Draft, maintain, and enhance financial crime and market abuse policies, standards, and procedures.
- Provide oversight and challenge of first‑line activities such as customer due diligence and sanctions screening.
- Produce clear and concise management information for committees, senior management, and the Board.
- Support the design and delivery of financial crime and market abuse training, including induction, refresher, and targeted risk‑based sessions.
What You’ll Bring
You are a confident, analytical compliance professional who enjoys working close to the business while maintaining strong regulatory judgement.
To succeed in this role, you’ll bring:
- Demonstrable experience in financial crime compliance within a UK‑regulated investment firm, asset manager, or similar environment.
- Strong practical experience in market abuse oversight, including surveillance, alerts management, escalation, and regulatory judgement.
- Sound knowledge of UK financial crime regulation, FCA expectations, and market abuse requirements.
- Experience drafting or contributing to financial crime and market abuse policies and procedures.
- Ability to analyse complex information, exercise sound judgement, and make proportionate risk‑based recommendations.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with experience engaging senior stakeholders and committees.
- A proactive, detail‑oriented approach with the confidence to challenge constructively.

Qualifications
- Degree‑level education or equivalent professional experience in financial services, law, or compliance.
- Relevant professional qualification (or progress towards one) such as ICA, ACAMS, CISI, or equivalent is highly regarded.
