Securities & Trade Operations Lead

Location: 100 Liverpool St, London Job Family Group: Customer Shared Services Closing Date: 08/01/2026


About the Role

Provides operational and strategic support in securing accurate, timely processing of securities and trade transactions, ensuring seamless downstream settlement and financial reporting. Acts as a trusted advisor to assigned business or group unit, driving process improvements, risk mitigation, and regulatory compliance while influencing business outcomes.

Pivotal tasks include:

  • Executing daily trade capturing, analytics, and financial accounting support.
  • Maintaining governance and controls over trade processes.
  • Collaborating with stakeholders to implement best practices.
  • Supporting strategic planning, reporting, and change management initiatives.
  • Managing vendor relations for services/solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Execution

  • Ensure timely and accurate booking of securities/trades via systems, resolving discrepancies with precision.
  • Capture transactional data to support analytics and ensure alignment with regulatory/trade receipting policies.
  • Provide expert guidance on trade execution, new strategies rollout, and compliance validation.
  • Drive demand reconciliation processes, ensuring adherence to Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and operational integrity.
  • Mitigate risks via adherence to Bank standards and regulatory frameworks.
  • Engage directly with clients/partners to resolve trade issues or escalate as required.

Strategic & Consultative Support

  • Analyze financial records/data to deliver actionable insights and recommendations.
  • Recommend and implement data/process optimizations (e.g. custom exception reports, streamlined dashboards).
  • Develop business solutions—from root cause diagnosis to solution design—while influencing decision-making.
  • Build change management roadsides (planning, stakeholder engagement, execution, evaluation).
  • Design and deploy custom trading reports, optimised analytics dashboards for stakeholders.
  • Lead vendor relations: from implementation to maintenance, ensuring seamless solution integration.

Leadership & Collaboration

  • Serve as primary backup to team members and manager to address absent capacity trends.
  • Train and assist teams on tools, working processes, and initiatives for alignment.
  • Define program strategies, evaluate performance, and advance strategic priorities.
  • Foster inclusive, equitable workplace engagement with both internal teams and external clients.

Workflow & Quality Assurance

  • Reconcile communication discrepancies; absorb business pressure to resolve exceptions.
  • Advocate for process improvements (e.g. standardisation for better efficiency).
  • Review ongoing performance to align with Bank/industry best practices.

Key Requirements

Experience & Competencies

  • 5–7 years in securities/trade operations, correspondent banking, or regulatory reporting environments.
  • Hands-on experience with systems common in financial markets, including trade capture, reconciliation platforms.
  • Expertise in dealing with regulatory requirements/risk controls (assurance of compliance/judgment).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) with statistical data handling skills.
  • Analytical skills (proven ability to diagnose issues, interpret financial reports, and propose structural fixes).

Technical/Knowledge Requirements

  • Deep understanding of Bank’s key products/services, processes and governance controls.
  • Regulatory-overlay expertise in areas like MiFID II, Basel III, or FATCA for security/compliance alignment.
  • In-depth grasp of trade lifecycle (receipting, reporting, settlement sensitivities.)
  • Familiarity with audit/control frameworks (SLA monitoring essential).
  • Ability to work independently in complex scenarios while acting as a skilled consult for day-to-day challenges.
