Senior Associate – Marine Cargo | London City or South West Office

An outstanding opportunity has arisen to join one of the world's leading marine and insurance law firms as a Senior Associate within its highly regarded Cargo team. This is a chance to work alongside recognised experts advising insurers, carriers, freight forwarders, logistics providers and global businesses on complex, high-value international disputes.

The Opportunity

You will advise on a broad range of international marine recovery matters, including:

  • Cargo loss and damage claims
  • Marine recovery and subrogated recoveries
  • Transportation liability disputes
  • Freight, demurrage and hire claims
  • CMR road transit claims
  • Cross-border litigation and arbitration involving international supply chains

The work spans the carriage of goods by sea, road, rail and air, providing genuine international exposure and the opportunity to handle technically challenging, commercially significant matters.

You will:

  • Manage a varied caseload from instruction through to resolution.
  • Advise on complex international cargo and transportation disputes.
  • Conduct litigation, arbitration and alternative dispute resolution.
  • Build and strengthen relationships with major insurer and logistics clients.
  • Mentor junior lawyers and contribute to business development initiatives within a growing practice.

You will be:

  • A qualified Solicitor or Barrister in England & Wales with at least 6 years PQE
  • Experienced in cargo, marine recovery or transportation liability matters.
  • Commercially minded with excellent drafting, negotiation and client management skills.
  • Comfortable running matters with an appropriate level of autonomy.
  • Keen to play an active role in the continued growth of a leading international marine practice.
