Senior Associate Mechanical Engineer

Senior - Associate Mechanical Designer

Liverpool | Growing Consultancy | Experience in the Education Sector

Are you a mechanical designer looking to take the lead on impactful projects across the North West? This expanding consultancy, focused heavily on the education sector, is seeking an experienced, client-facing technical specialist to join their Liverpool-based team.

Key Opportunity: Step into a role where you can shape mechanical design delivery for schools, colleges, and education facilities, including:

  • New builds
  • Refurbishments
  • Capital improvement programmes
  • Government-funded schemes

📍 Work Location: Based in Liverpool, with a focus on the North West region.


What You’ll Be Doing

As a Senior Mechanical Designer, you will be responsible for:

  • Leading superiorly-compliant, efficient and technically advanced mechanical design projects
  • Producing and reviewing designs, calculations, reports, and specifications
  • Conducting mechanical condition, asset, and lifecycle surveys with costed recommendations
  • Ensuring adherence to Building Regulations, CIBSE guidelines, and H&S standards
  • Collaborating on workload planning, client collaboration, and project resourcing
  • Supporting government-funded programmes and major project delivery
  • Acting as a critical technical contact for clients
  • Mentoring and supporting junior engineers and technicians
  • Driving innovation and efficiency improvements in design processes
  • Assisting with framework submissions and competitive bidding
  • Strengthening client relationships and securing repeat business

What You’ll Bring

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Qualifications:
    • HNC/HND or BEng (Hons) in Mechanical Engineering
  • Experience:
    • Strong background in mechanical building services design
    • Consultancy or contractor experience (commended)
    • Preferable experience within the Public Sector / Education Sector
  • Personal Attributes:
    • Confident communicator with strong client-facing abilities
    • Analytic, proactive problem-solver
    • Ability to lead and coordinate complex mechanical design projects
    • Experience in performing mechanical condition surveys
  • Certifications/Vetting:
    • Enhanced DBS clearance (due to education sector focus)
