About the Role
The Security Assurance Services (SAS) team at Amazon Web Services drives scalable security solutions for internal and external customers, ensuring seamless cloud adoption while delivering high-impact security outcomes.
We empower clients to operationalize the shared responsibility model as they transition to the cloud, helping leaders mitigate risk while leveraging scalable, automated security mechanisms.
As a Senior Assurance Consultant, you’ll play a pivotal role in:
- Expanding AWS’s Security Assurance practice
- Educating customers on how AWS’s product-led, people-powered services enable secure operations while ensuring compliance
- Guiding regulated enterprises through cloud migration, addressing risk, regulatory, and compliance challenges
- Collaborating across lines of business to shape the future of AWS’s security and compliance strategies
This is a customer-facing position, where success is measured by enabling workload migration, regulating data shifts, and achieving compliance objectives.
Key Responsibilities

Expertise
- Lead cross-functional teams (Amazonians, partners, and customers) in enhancing security assurance and compliance programs
- Drive innovative compliance and risk management approaches, shaping how customers transition sensitive workloads to AWS

- Define architecture strategies aligned with industry standards (e.g., NIST 800-53, GDPR) to accelerate secure cloud adoption
- Translate complex compliance requirements into scalable solutions

Basic Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems Management, Information Security, or related fields
- Proven expertise in:
- Information security & compliance
- Risk management & internal audit, including:
- Conducting risk assessments and audits
- Designing controls within enterprise frameworks
- Prioritizing and managing risks
- 3+ years of experience in:
- Advising customers on cloud architectures meeting NIST 800-53, GDPR, or other regulatory standards
- Scalable systems experience: Architectures built for performance, reliability, and security

Preferred Qualifications
Technical & Professional Certifications
- Credentialed risk, audit, or compliance professionals (CPA, CMA, CISA, CIA)
- Security assessments & auditing experience, including:
- Networking, OS, application security
- IT process auditing
- Cloud Security & DevOps expertise, including:
- Understanding Agile, CI/CD, and DevOps impact on risk and compliance
- Familiarity with cloud-native scalable security frameworks
- Advanced credentials: CISSP, CISM, or equivalent technical certifications
- Strategic thinking skills: Ability to integrate business, product, and technical challenges
- Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or equivalent (or applicable field experience)
