Salary: £45,000 - £50,000 + Benefits
Closing Date: Sunday 5th April 2026
We believe that our strength is not just in our steel but the diversity of our workforce. Our people make the difference.
Are you ready to play a key role in driving continuous improvement and safeguarding the future of one of the UK’s largest manufacturing businesses?
At Tata Steel, we’re transforming for a sustainable future – and our Internal Audit team is at the heart of ensuring robust governance, effective risk management, and operational excellence.
The Role
As a Senior Auditor, you’ll organise, supervise, and conduct audits across Tata Steel UK and, where appropriate, within the wider Tata Steel Group. You’ll provide senior management with independent insight into key risks, the effectiveness of internal controls, and opportunities to strengthen our systems and processes.
This role offers real variety – from auditing high-risk areas and advising stakeholders, to mentoring junior colleagues and helping shape the way we approach audit through new tools and techniques such as data analytics and agile auditing.
What you’ll do
- Lead and conduct audits, evaluating internal controls and providing practical, cost-effective recommendations.
- Provide high-quality reports and insights to senior stakeholders, up to and including the Board.
- Advise on risk management during business system development projects.
- Support the development of junior auditors and guest auditors.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, effectiveness, and value within the Internal Audit function.
- Build strong, influential relationships across a wide range of stakeholders and functions.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
