Job Description

We are currently looking for a Senior Auditor to join our new Internal Audit partnership between East Sussex County Council (ESCC) and Brighton and Hove City Council (B&HCC). The post will be employed by ESCC and will require some travel across East Sussex and Brighton. We currently work on a hybrid basis with an expectation that everyone within our service will share time between working from one of our available offices and from home.
Internal Audit is responsible for providing assurance to our clients in relation to internal control, governance and risk management, supporting each organisation to achieve its overall objectives. As a service, we are proud to have demonstrated high levels of compliance with the standards applicable to Internal Audit and, as a new partnership, we have exciting plans to continue to develop the service even further.
We are looking for a Senior Auditor who would like to make the next move up the career ladder. You will likely have experience of delivering audits across a range of different services. A formal Internal Audit qualification is preferable, although not essential. You will have strong analytical skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills and be able to maintain great client relationships. An ability to complete audit work of sufficient quality within agreed timeframes and budgets is crucial. Successful candidates will be self-motivated and able to work on their own initiative and within a team.

You Will Have
- Significant relevant experience obtained in a professional work environment and transferable skills that will meet the expectations of the role.
- Knowledge of a range of internal audit methodologies and techniques.
- Experience of report writing and presenting verbal reports to management.
- The ability to develop and build effective client relations with customers, clients, and senior managers and foster good client relations as part of individual audit assignments and client liaison arrangements.
