Senior Authorised Person, 11 - 33kV
Location: This role covers a region across Oxford, Andover, Salisbury, and Yeovil, but we would consider applications nationwide.
Contract Type: Permanent preferred
Salary: Competitive plus vehicle
Working Hours:
- 40 hours per week, Monday–Friday
- Site work for outages
- Admin and planning from home
About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Authorised Person (SAP), responsible for leading and managing the tree cutting electrical provision team within Ground Control’s operational area with SSE. The ideal candidate will deliver their own tree cutting-related power outages and act as the lead for outages carried out by subcontractor SAPs under this role.

- Value for Ground Control’s clients
Specific Duties:
- Efficient and effective planning and execution of individual and team-assigned tree cutting power outages
- Application, removal, and oversight of earths, back feeds, and generation when necessary
- Supporting the overall delivery of the tree cutting programme
- Leading and managing the team to meet:
- Deadlines
- Budgetary commitments
- Contractual obligations
- Aiding cost allocation for the electrical provision

What We’re Looking For
- Certification: Senior Authorised Person (SAP) with Field Control as defined by SSE or another DNO, with preference given to SSE-approved candidates.
- Alternative: A training programme to achieve SSE approval within 3 months if current approval is from another DNO can be considered.
- Qualifications: Ideal candidates hold an HNC-level qualification in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent work experience is accepted.
- Broader understanding of powers networks' electrical shutdown provision (UK) or comparable DNOs
- Strong problem-solving skills, with an ability to:
- Identify issues
- Analyze key concerns
- Collaborate to explore alternatives
- Full UK Driver’s Licence (required)
