Senior Authorised Person (SAP) – HV Electrical Infrastructure Projects

Location: [UK-wide, delivering HV infrastructure] Recruiter: Owen Daniels

A growing, dynamic electrical engineering organisation is seeking an experienced Senior Authorised Person (SAP) to lead high-voltage (HV) electrical systems, substation works, and network infrastructure projects. This is an exceptional opportunity for a qualified, safety-conscious HV engineer with a track record in transmission, distribution, or critical infrastructure environments.


Key Responsibilities

  • Operate as the Senior Authorised Person for HV electrical systems, ensuring compliance with company safety protocols.
  • Conduct switching, isolation, sanctioning, and permitting activities in strict adherence to operational safety rules.
  • Manage and supervise HV works across:
    • Substations
    • Power distribution systems
    • Network infrastructure projects
  • Deliver all activities safely, efficiently, and in compliance with industry regulations.
  • Support commissioning, maintenance, and fault response efforts.
  • Provide technical mentorship to engineers and site teams.
  • Liaise effectively with clients, contractors, and project stakeholders to ensure smooth execution.

Essential Requirements

  • Current Senior Authorised Person (SAP) qualification/authorisation.
  • Proven operational experience working in HV systems (minimum up to 11kV, with preference for 33kV, 66kV, or higher).
  • In-depth knowledge of electrical safety rules and operational procedures.
  • Relevant technical qualifications (minimum one of the following):
    • City & Guilds / NVQ Level 3 (Electrical Engineering)
    • HNC/HND (Electrical Engineering, desirable)
  • Full, valid UK driving licence (essential for site-based work).
  • Strong communication, leadership, and team guidance skills.
