Senior Authorised Person

Senior Asset Manager – Senior Authorised Person (£70,000–£85,000 + Allowance & Overtime)

Location: Lincs Onshore substation (Grimsby / Kings Lynn, England) Package: Up to £99,500 DOE

  • Basic salary: £70,000 – £85,000 (dependent on experience)
  • Operational allowance: £10,000 – £14,500 (dependent on existing SAP authorisation/experience)
  • Bonus: Up to 20% of base salary
  • + standby retainer payments
  • Overtime opportunities

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Asset Manager to oversee the day-to-day management and operation of Lincs’ Offshore Transmission Owners’ (OFTO) assets within the Operations Team. The ideal candidate will be technically capable, commercially astute, driven, and aligned with our vision for rapid growth whilst upholding high standards of Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) and asset performance.

This opportunity offers the chance to diversify your expertise through operational leadership, including:

  • Managing critical electrical infrastructure central to the UK’s decarbonisation efforts
  • Developing planned and urgent interventions (e.g., fault response, equipment restoration)
  • Engaging in project delivery across onshore/offshore substations

The role blends hands-on technical oversight with strategic asset management, ensuring maximised availability and proactive compliance.


Key Responsibilities

  • Health, Safety & Environmental Compliance

    • Ensure strict adherence to O&M contract HSE requirements
    • Manage site-specific safety protocols (e.g., safety switching, RAMS, safety documentation)
  • Technical & Operational Leadership

    • Embed Senior Authorised Person (SAP ≥132kV) status and maintain expertise in Electrical Safety Rules
    • Oversee daily O&M activities for offshore windfarm assets (contractors, equipment, data)
    • Plan/coordinate maintenance events (onshore & offshore) based on tactical alarm/event response
    • Establish and refine asset maintenance policies, operational procedures, and contingency planning
  • Asset & Performance Optimisation

    • Analyse alerts and asset data to drive proactive interventions (e.g., submarine cable inspections)
    • Monitor UK Grid Code / SO-TO procedures and optimise alignment
    • Lead asset performance reviews and development of extension/maintenance plans
    • Undertake technical supervision for projects up to £500k, including:
      • Drafting specifications
      • Partnering with procurement and contractors
      • Supporting project delivery timelines

  • Commercial & Bidding Strategy

    • Produce technical business cases for asset/E&P investment
    • Contribute to future transmission asset bids (e.g., Competitions for Onshore Transmission (CATO))
    • Support end-to-end documentation (policies, handovers, reports, facility acceptance)
  • Stakeholder Collaboration

    • Foster diverse stakeholder relationships (Orsted (Lincs Windfarm), National Grid (NGET) / System Operator (ESO))
    • Serve as internal/external technical liaison, ensuring alignment with national grid standards
    • Report weekly/monthly to Head of Asset Management and fiduciary stakeholders
  • Deputation & Emergency Cover

    • Travel to offshore/international sites (Grimsby, Scotland for LirIC, SC/white-ERST utilisation)
    • Stand-by on onshore and offshore operations as required by rotational schedules
    • Conduct offshore medical examinations (with corporate support) and meet GWO Basic Safety Training (certification provided)

Education, Work Experience & Qualifications

Essential

  • Degree/HNC (Power Infrastructure, Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent gain from experience)
  • 1+ years in UK electricity or offshore industry, preferably:
    • Asset management, O&M, technical operations
    • Fault/switching response experience and equipment restoration
    • Contract management, outsourced services, subcontractor coordination
  • Current Senior Authorised Person (SAP) certification ≥132kV
  • Technical domain knowledge (semi-comprehensive):
    • HF/HV transformers, switchgear, cables
    • SCADA/protection systems & fault diagnostics
    • Windfarm/grid asset interconnections
    • Offshore structure classifications, IOSH diagnostics

Preferred Experience

  • IOSH/NEBOSH or equivalent workplace safety qualifications
  • GWO Basic Safety Training (certification provided via company)
  • Experience with submarine cables (repair, reburial,?** surveys)
  • Commercial processes (scoping technical spend across £55k–£500k spectrum)
