Job Description
The GBS Capability Optimisation and Automation (GCOA) organisation is a strategic function focused on transforming finance operations through intelligent automation and AI. GCOA acts as a centralised capability hub, enabling scalable, secure, and compliant solutions that deliver measurable business value.
GCOA partners with finance and technology teams to:
- Identify automation opportunities.
- Design innovative solutions.
- Embed automation as a core enabler of operational excellence and digital transformation.
Position Description
The Automation Developer will create and maintain automation solutions for the business. The solutions will include defining, designing, developing, implementing, and maintaining automations through our platform (Python automations in Kubernetes containers hosted on AWS) that will interact with Lilly’s AI Platform (NLM and OCR use cases), Microsoft Fabric, SAP API, Graph API and additional systems APIs where necessary.
The primary objective of the team is to develop and deliver automation solutions and other emerging technology solutions for the Finance organization globally.
Responsibilities / Duties
- Partner with analyst team to review automation opportunities and assessing feasibility for automation.
- Ensure that the business processes are understood in detail and ready to be automated.
- Participate in various types of interviews, meetings or workshops to define, design and configure automation solutions.
- Assesses the functions objectives and requirements of the organisation partnering with us.
- Determines the appropriate method of automation, analyses and interprets information gained and implements recommendations/designs.
- Use automation to solve problems concerned with business strategy, organisation, procedures & performance and present findings.
- Analyses and interprets information gained and makes recommendations to business partners.
- Communicate timelines and deliverables regularly.
- Create architecture and design documents as part of automation development process.
- Create and document test procedures and scenarios prior to launching User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
- Develop process automation in accordance with automation team standards and best practices.
- Conduct validations with automation team and business during the development of the project.
- Support business teams in testing activities, including integration testing, end-to-end (business process) testing and UAT.
- Problem-solve issues that arise in day-to-day running of automation processes and provide timely responses and solutions as required.
- Provide pro-active operational support for live processes, ensuring processes run as expected and troubleshooting any issues that may arise.
- Participate in the problem identification/error resolution process, including tracking, repairing and reporting defects.
- Communicate any identified and potential risks and issues to leadership team accordingly and provide actionable inputs to mitigate.
- Support QA, audit activities and platform migration activities as needed.

Experience Required
- Overall 7+ Years of programmer experience with supply chain/finance/administrative business processes, systems and applications of varying scope and complexity.
- Experience in programming (Python, R, Java, PL/SQL and O365 power platform).
- Bachelor’s degree in Business/Management Information Systems or Computer Science or similar course.
- Track record of meeting and/or exceeding established client, project and performance goals.
- Track record of working on projects to success within established timelines and budgets.
- Ability to work independently, or in groups, as the lead participant.
- Ability to take on complex assignments and assume increasingly greater responsibilities.
Additional Preferences
- Experience with systems development life cycle and structured programming methods (both traditional and agile), including requirements definition, solution design, program development, testing, documentation, training, deployment, operations, support and maintenance.
- Experience with Microservices architecture for modular and independently deployable components
- Experience with Docker and Kubernetes for containerization and orchestration, to enable streamlined deployment and scaling. processes.
- Experience with building system interactions through APIs, SAP being most preferable.
- Exposed to Automated build and deployment processes.
- Experience in analysing, debugging, and refactoring legacy code.
- Experience with SAP, MS PowerApps, MS Fabric, PowerBI, SharePoint Online.
- Good to have experience in other emerging technologies such as AI agents/assistants.
