As we continue to grow, we are looking for a Senior Automation & Commissioning Engineer to support machine installations, commissioning, servicing and technical improvements across our machinery range.

What You'll Do

This role involves regular travel both within the UK and internationally. The successful candidate will work closely with our manufacturing partners in China, supporting factory acceptance testing, machine development and technical problem solving. You will also spend time at customer sites across the UK, leading installations, commissioning machinery, resolving technical issues and ensuring customers achieve the best possible performance from their equipment.

This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys solving problems, taking ownership and working directly with customers.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Installing, commissioning and supporting packaging machinery throughout the UK and overseas
  • Diagnosing and resolving mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and automation faults
  • PLC programming, modification and fault finding (Mitsubishi PLCs & Siemens HMIs)
  • Supporting Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), machine development and continuous product improvements
  • Working closely with customers to ensure successful machine installations and performance
  • International travel opportunities

You'll be working on a wide range of automation solutions including:

  • Multihead weighers
  • Linear weighers
  • Filling systems
  • Conveyors and product handling equipment
  • Vertical Form Fill & Seal (VFFS) machinery
  • Premade pouch packaging systems
  • Bespoke automation projects

What We're Looking For

We're looking for an experienced engineer with a strong understanding of industrial automation, packaging machinery or special purpose machinery.

You will ideally have:

  • Strong electrical and automation fault-finding skills
  • Experience with Mitsubishi PLCs and Siemens HMIs
  • Proven experience commissioning and supporting packaging machinery is essential
  • Experience with conveyors, process equipment or special-purpose machinery
  • A practical engineer who enjoys solving problems and finding solutions
  • Ability to work independently and represent the company professionally on customer sites
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Willingness to travel throughout the UK and internationally

Desirable

  • Electrical qualifications, apprenticeship or engineering qualification
  • Experience with packaging machinery and end-of-line automation
  • Experience writing technical manuals and documentation
  • Welding or fabrication experience
  • Experience working with imported machinery and machinery modifications
