Senior Automation Test Engineer – SC Cleared
Permanent | Hybrid (London/Leeds, 50% Onsite)
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Automation Test Engineer to join a newly formed team specialising in cutting-edge testing capabilities, with a focus on AI-driven quality engineering and automation.
This role involves shaping automation strategy, leading AI-assisted testing initiatives, and delivering scalable quality assurance solutions across web, mobile, API, desktop, and cloud platforms. As part of a large-scale enterprise environment, you’ll establish new testing capabilities, drive best practices, and adopt emerging technologies throughout the software delivery lifecycle.

Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable automation frameworks across multiple platforms and environments
- Drive AI-assisted and AI-driven testing initiatives, leveraging GenAI, intelligent automation, and emerging technologies
- Develop and execute automated test suites for web, mobile, API, desktop, and cloud applications
- Define test strategies, governance processes, and quality assurance standards
- Lead automation innovation activities – including PoCs and continuous improvement initiatives
- Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines and DevOps workflows
- Collaborate across development, product, and delivery teams to embed quality throughout the lifecycle
- Support defect management, root cause analysis, and release assurance activities
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship on automation best practices
- Drive measurable improvements in testing efficiency, coverage, and delivery quality

Requirements
Essential
- Active SC Security Clearance
- Extensive experience as a Senior QA Engineer, Automation Test Engineer, or SDET
- Strong background in AI-driven and AI-assisted testing, including GenAI tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Amazon Q, or Cursor AI)
- Hands-on experience with AI-enabled testing tools
- Proven ability to deliver scalable automation solutions across web, mobile, API, desktop, and cloud environments
- Expertise in:
- Selenium
- Playwright
- Appium
- Rest Assured
- TestNG
- Experience in designing and implementing enterprise-grade automation frameworks
- Strong understanding of end-to-end test lifecycle management (strategy, estimation, governance, stakeholder engagement)
- Ability to integrate testing into CI/CD and DevOps environments
- Excellent collaboration skills, with experience working across distributed teams and multiple projects
Desirable
- Experience with RAG-based systems and AI-led test generation
- Experience with regression automation and optimisation initiatives
- Knowledge of:

- AWS / Azure
- BrowserStack / Perfecto
- Experience with large-scale API automation programmes
- Ability to drive cost-optimisation through automation-led initiatives
