The Opportunity
We’re looking for a Senior Azure Cloud Engineer highly disciplined in Microsoft Azure standards, who thrives on solving complex challenges, driving innovation and delivering secure, scalable solutions that power business transformation.
In this role, you’ll be the architect behind our cloud strategy, turning vision into reality with cutting-edge technology and best practices. You’ll champion cloud adoption, lead sitereliability engineering (SRE) initiatives and collaborate with DevOps, automation, and platform teams to create seamless, high-performing environments.
This is a unique opportunity to join Arup at an exciting time of transformation. You will form part of a dynamic, collaborative team supporting mission-critical platforms that shape the future of our firm’s digital services.
The Senior Azure Cloud Engineer will bring demonstrable expertise in the following areas:
Design & Deliver Reliability: Build and execute strategies for high availability and resilience across our digital portfolio. Lead SRE Practices: Drive measurable improvements in reliability through metrics and automation. Architect Cloud-Native Solutions: Create scalable, maintainable applications aligned with the Azure Well-Architected Framework. Automate Everything: Use Terraform, IaC, and CI/CD pipelines to streamline deployments and operations. Champion DevSecOps: Embed security and compliance into every layer of our cloud ecosystem. Innovate & Experiment: Conduct proof-of-concepts and integrate emerging technologies. Collaborate & Influence: Work with architecture teams, advise on sequencing, and ensure optimal delivery. Monitor & Optimise: Troubleshoot production issues, enhance performance, and maintain 24x7 availability.

Is this role right for you?
Deep expertise in Microsoft Azure and native tools (ARM Templates, Terraform). Strong experience with Azure services: AKS, SQL Server, Cosmos DB, EventHub, App Service, Function Apps, Blob Storage, DNS, Virtual Networks, Service Bus, Site Recovery. Proficiency in automation and configuration management (Azure DevOps, Azure Automation, Azure Policy). Solid understanding of hybrid cloud models (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS) and virtualization. Hands-on experience with Linux OS. A passion for continuous improvement, innovation, and delivering exceptional stakeholder experiences.
