Senior Backend Engineer – TypeScript, AWS Lambda, Serverless
Consultancy/ Public Sector
Hybrid - 1x a month in Manchester OR London
Rate: £400-450/ day Outside IR35
Contract length: initially 4 months with chance to extension
Clearance requirements: Active SC is a must have for this role
We're working with a fast-growing, digital consultancy to find a Senior Backend Engineer to join a high-profile programme within a large scale public sector project.
The project is split across five multidisciplinary teams, all gearing up for a major strategic push over the next 12 months as more core services are integrated. This is a genuine opportunity to shape a product used by millions.

What you'll be doing:
- Designing and building backend services using TypeScript, AWS Lambda, and a serverless architecture
- Working within an agile, multidisciplinary team delivering modern digital government services
- Contributing to the next evolution of one of the UK's most-used digital products
What we're looking for:

- Strong hands-on experience with TypeScript and serverless AWS (Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, etc.)
- A track record of delivering digital services within agile, cross-functional teams
- Previous central government or GDS experience is highly advantageous
- Active SC clearance is essential - candidates without this unfortunately cannot be considered
