Senior Backend Engineer

Backend Engineer – Scalable Microservices (Remote)

About HackaJob & Sporty Group

Hackajob is partnering with Sporty Group, a fast-growing company specializing in profit-grade mobile internet and SaaS products, to connect them with top-tier professionals. In this role, you’ll contribute to highly-scalable microservices, building core system logic for one of Europe’s leading business tools—often handling millions of daily transactions.

This is the role for those who love writing meaningful, production-grade code with minimal legacy constraints. If you thrive in fast-moving environments and enjoy working with modern cloud-native architecture, this could be a great fit.

  • Scale of Impact: Will work on systems with billions of call records, accessed millennia per day.
  • Technology Stack: Fresh, modern systems written from scratch (~3 years old), using industry-best tools.

Framework Flexibility: We use Spring Boot extensively, but are open to others as long as you: ✔ Have 6+ years experience in a Backend/SOA/Integrations role ✔ Can demonstrate strong OOP skills ✔ Are willing to learn our preferred stack

What You’ll Do

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
