The role
This company is building an AI workspace that processes sensitive financial data for some of the world's largest banks and regulated institutions. They operate where SOC 2, GDPR, and FCA compliance are not just buzzwords, but fundamental requirements. Backed by leading investors, they recently secured a significant Series A, widely reported as one of the largest in its category, to deepen their platform's capabilities.
You'll join a senior backend bench, reporting directly to the founders, at the intersection of AI and finance. This is a staff-track IC seat with visible influence, not a layer in a larger team. You won't just maintain existing systems; you'll architect and scale the core backend services and data pipelines that power an AI platform handling critical financial workloads.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
