Senior Backend PHP Developer (Laravel) – Remote (UK Based) – Up to £70,000
The Role
You'll join a small, collaborative development team responsible for the continued development of a large-scale SaaS platform used by thousands of customers.
A big focus of the role will be:
- Backend development
- Platform scalability
- API design
- Integration work
You'll be involved in designing and building new functionality while improving existing systems. This is a great opportunity if you enjoy solving complex business problems and building software that has a direct impact on customers.
What You’ll Be Working On
- Building and enhancing backend services using Laravel and PHP
- Designing and maintaining APIs and third-party integrations
- Developing features across:
- Ticketing
- Booking
- Customer management workflows
- Working on transactional systems for payments, orders and customer journeys
- Improving platform performance, scalability and reliability
- Collaborating with product and engineering teams to shape future platform development
- Supporting architectural decisions and best engineering practices

What We’re Looking For
Core Requirements
- Strong commercial experience with PHP and Laravel
- Experience building and integrating APIs with third-party systems
- Solid understanding of:
- Backend architecture
- Scalable application design
- Experience working on:
- SaaS products
- Ecommerce platforms
- Booking systems
- Other high-volume transactional applications

Technical Skills
- Comfortable with MySQL and modern development practices
- Experience with:
- Docker
- AWS
- Queues
- Microservices or event-driven architectures is beneficial
Particularly Relevant Backgrounds
