Senior Base Metals Trader

Senior Metals Trader | Physical Base Metals

Location: London

Responsibilities

  • Originate and execute physical transactions across copper, aluminium, zinc, lead, and nickel
  • Expand the desk's counterparty coverage by securing new business from producers, smelters, consumers, and trading houses
  • Structure transactions across the full deal lifecycle, from origination through execution, logistics, and settlement, maintaining disciplined risk management throughout
  • Contribute to the desk's broader commercial strategy in close collaboration with analytics, operations, and risk functions
  • Anticipate market developments and position the book accordingly

Requirements

  • A demonstrated track record of building and growing a physical metals trading business, with clear P&L accountability and sustained profitability
  • Comprehensive understanding of the drivers of physical trading margins, including premiums, freight, financing, and quality differentials
  • An active and well-maintained network across the mining, smelting, consumer, and trading community
  • The capacity to operate with a high degree of autonomy and commercial independence
