Senior BESS Manager - Project Delivery & Commercial
Leap29 are seeking a Senior BESS Manager - Project Delivery & Commercial with a strong electrical engineering background to support the development phase of large-scale renewable energy projects.
This role sits at the intersection of electrical engineering, commercial strategy, and project development, with a key focus on ensuring projects are technically sound, commercially viable, and investment-ready.
You will play a critical role in due diligence, contract structuring, and grid/electrical design alignment, supporting projects through feasibility, development, and financial close.
Responsibilities:
- Lead commercial and contractual strategy across project development
- Draft, review, and negotiate key agreements including EPC, BoP, grid connection, land, and OEM supply contracts
- Act as the link between engineering and commercial teams, ensuring alignment between electrical scope and contractual obligations

Due Diligence & Project Validation
- Support and lead technical and commercial due diligence for project acquisitions, partnerships, and financing
- Review electrical designs, grid connection strategies, and engineering studies to assess project viability
- Identify technical, commercial, and contractual risks, particularly related to HV/MV infrastructure and grid integration
- Interface with lenders, investors, and advisors during due diligence processes
- Ensure projects meet bankability standards and are structured for financial close
Engineering & Electrical Scope
- Provide technical input into HV/MV systems, substations, grid compliance, and connection agreements
- Support procurement of major electrical equipment (transformers, switchgear, cables, inverters)
- Evaluate bids from contractors from both a technical and commercial perspective
Commercial & Delivery
- Develop and manage budgets, cost estimates, and financial models
- Support tendering and procurement strategies
- Manage stakeholder relationships across developers, utilities, EPC contractors, and consultants
- Ensure smooth transition from development to construction phase

About You
- Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline
- Strong experience in renewable energy or power infrastructure projects
- Proven background in contracts, commercial management, or project development
- Hands-on experience supporting or leading technical/commercial due diligence
- Strong understanding of HV/MV systems, grid connections, and electrical infrastructure
- Experience working with EPC contracts, OEMs, and utilities (TSO/DSO)
- Strong analytical, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills
- Commercially astute with a strong understanding of risk and project bankability
