Senior Biochemistry Analytical Scientist

Edinburgh, Scotland

Our Edinburgh-based Biotechnology client is currently recruiting for a Senior Biochemistry Analytical Scientist.

The successful candidate will provide comprehensive analytical support and expertise. Duties for this position will include:

  • Hands-on experience with LC-MS & Q-TOF-MS systems with an emphasis on developing robust methods and workflows for the successful characterisation of large and small molecules (including proteins/peptides)
  • Generating new analytical approaches and ideas to improve working practices
  • Providing ongoing technical support and guidance to other in-team Biochemists and Scientists
  • Defining and delivering suitable analytical projects for a wide variety of bioprocess-related activities
  • Leading on projects, ensuring milestones are in place and met
  • Ensuring the validity of all analytical data produced
  • Troubleshooting instrumentation, advising others when required

Applications are invited from candidates with a BSc / MSc / PhD in Chemistry / Biochemistry (or related subject) together with proven demonstrable skills and experience in analytical biochemistry techniques. R&D experience in a bioprocessing / biocatalysis environment would be ideal, including downstream processing and product isolation.
