Senior Trader/Head of Biofuels

Imperium Commodity Search is confidentially retained by a well-established and growing energy trading business in London. As part of their diversification efforts and continued expansion of asset class offering, our client is seeking a Senior Trader/Experienced Biofuels Head to join the business and launch/grow the Biofuels desk with full support from the CEO.
As the Head of Biofuels, you will be the subject matter expert on all HVO/FAME/SAF business and have a thorough knowledge of the UK/EU biofuel regulations/sales channels, whilst working closely with senior management on harvesting some excellent longstanding and pre-existing relationships on sourcing in the Far East. This project is very much a long-term vision with a view to adding headcount and geographical/product expansion in the short to mid-term.

Duties & Responsibilities:
- Establish and grow sales channels across all key biofuels markets in the European/Middle Eastern (or other global) markets across HVO/FAME/Biodiesel/Bioethanol/SAF etc.
- Keep up to date with global biofuel analysis and market movements to guide trading strategy and work with senior management on responsive and agile desk growth/trading approach
- Develop and grow relationships with Far Eastern/Chinese market producers/sourcing avenues for Biofuels
- Build out a cross-value chain biofuels desk, working as a partner in the space from raw material through to finished product
- Build and retain relationships with refineries and end users in the European market to grow sales channels for Biofuels products
- Ensure Biofuels book is hedged, and risk limits are adhered to whilst driving PnL and volume growth
- Short-Mid Term; Work with CEO on growing a wider Biofuels team and building a well-rounded/specialised desk to cover all key biofuel classes

Requirements:
- A minimum of 5 years experienced in a physical Biofuels trading position
- Previous management/desk leadership experience is beneficial
- A proven track record in the European biofuels markets with a good network in the space at multiple points of the value chain
- Exposure in sourcing in China/Far Eastern markets is beneficial
- Good understanding of the regulatory framework around EU/UK Biofuels markets
- Strong analytical knowledge around the global biofuels markets
- Hedging/Paper experience is preferred but not required
- Fluency in English and strong communication ability
