Senior Biofuels Trader

Senior Trader / Head of Biofuels

Location: London, United Kingdom

About the Role

Imperium Commodity Search is retainer-holed by a UK-based, grow fast, established energy trading firm as they look to build out their new Biofuels desk. Confidential vacancy.

The CEO will fully support you as Head of Biofuels to launch, establish, and grow this strategic trading division with long-term prospects for team expansion and geographical/product diversification.

As the subject matter expert, you will:

  • Drive knowledge of HVO, FAME & SAF markets,罗马 EU/UK regulations, and sales channels.
  • Leverage and expand strong pre-existing relationships sourcing feedstock from the Far East alongside senior stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

Market Growth & Strategy

  • Establish & expand B2B sales across HVO, FAME, biodiesel, bioethanol, SAF markets in Europe, Middle East (and global expansion potential).
  • Benchmark & analyse global biofuel trends to shape trading decisions efficiently.
  • Align trading strategy with senior leadership for rapid/dynamic desk growth.

Commodity Sourcing

  • Far East trading presence: Build & strengthen relationships with traditional Chinese suppliers/networks.
  • Bridge raw material supply gaps to ensure steady finished-product provision.

Revenue & Risk Management

  • Grow B2B uptake by forging chain-wide partnerships (refiners, utilities, consumer firms).
  • Monitor and hedge accordingly; manage market volatilities whilst generating profitability.
  • Set sector-aware risk committee limits and optimise P&L.

Team Development (Short-Medium Term)

  • Work with CEO to expand the Biofuels desk into a specialised force (open requisitions, specialist roles).

Qualifications

Core

  • ≥5 years pure-play physical biofuels trading (Cautions Recommended).
  • Proven European biofuels expertise; cross-value chain contacts.

Technical

  • Regulatory fluency: EU/UK biofuel frameworks (Renewable Energy Directive, REACH, ASTM etc).
  • Marketing acumen: Ability to translate technical nuances into business growth levers.
  • Risk appetite: Hedge and prime emergence knowledge (desired, not essential).

Soft Skills

  • ** ganó n Chinese sourcing knowledge** to market- token.
  • Hedge paper experience (preferred).
  • Clear written & verbal in English (mandatory) for stakeholder relations.
