Senior Bioinformatics Developer
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Bioinformatics Developer based in United Kingdom.
This role offers the opportunity to develop advanced bioinformatics solutions that contribute to improving genomic analysis and precision medicine.
You will design, build, and optimize scalable pipelines for processing complex genomic data and supporting clinical applications.
The position combines software engineering, computational biology, and data analysis to solve challenging problems in human genetics.
You will work on technologies that bridge scientific research and real-world healthcare applications.
The ideal candidate is a technically skilled professional with strong programming experience, genomic knowledge, and a passion for impactful innovation.
You will collaborate with interdisciplinary teams in a remote environment focused on scientific excellence and continuous learning.
Accountabilities
- Build, maintain, and improve pipelines for genomic variant analysis using modern workflow orchestration and pipeline management tools.
- Develop scalable, reproducible, and reliable bioinformatics workflows following best practices in data analysis and software engineering.
- Design and implement robust tools for analyzing genomic datasets and supporting advanced computational biology applications.
- Optimize existing bioinformatics code and pipelines to improve performance, efficiency, and scalability.
- Ensure data processing workflows are maintainable, accurate, and suitable for production environments.
- Collaborate with scientists, engineers, and interdisciplinary teams to translate biological challenges into effective technical solutions.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of bioinformatics platforms, analysis methods, and development practices.

Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Computer Science, or a related field; advanced degrees are a plus.
- Proven experience developing bioinformatics algorithms and building genomic data processing pipelines.
- Strong programming skills in Python, with experience using additional scripting languages such as Perl considered an advantage.
- Solid understanding of genomics, genetics, molecular biology, and biological data analysis.
- Experience working with databases, data management, and data integration techniques.
- Familiarity with version control systems such as Git and containerization technologies such as Docker.
- Minimum of 4 years of professional experience working in Linux environments.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and ability to work effectively in collaborative, interdisciplinary teams.
- Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
- Ability to independently manage technical challenges while contributing positively to team objectives.
