Role: Senior Branch & Restricted Funds Accountant

Location: London, Haig House, with hybrid working

Contract Type: 2 years Fixed Term

Hours: Full Time, 35 hours per week

Salary: £46,452 to £51,252 per annum, inclusive of London Supplement


We are looking for a Senior Branch and Restricted Funds Accountant to join our fantastic Financial Accounts team for a two-year fixed period covering internal secondment.

Here at RBL, we have 2,000 Branches and 50 Membership regions. This position plays a key role in our wider Branch Accounts team in maintaining accurate records for these Branch, Trust, and County funds, producing accurate financial and improving financial controls.

You will maintain and control our portfolio of restricted funds, ensuring that our organisation complies with charity and trust law and you will advise on appropriate policies for the recording and expenditure of restricted funds, ensuring restricted funds are maximised in support of our charitable objectives.

Reporting to our Financial Accountant - Branch and Restricted Funds Manager, key responsibilities will include:

  • Ensuring that Branch Fund Initiative (BFI), Branch Property Trust BFI, and Legacy accounts are properly administered and maintained
  • Oversee the recording of income and expenditure in relation to RBL’s restricted funds, and in particular, Branch Property Trusts, legacy trusts, and restricted donations
  • Maintain a record of all restricted funds including relevant narrative information on the history of the funds and the specific restrictions applicable to each fund while ensuring this is updated and reviewed ahead of year end
  • Assisting drafting and maintaining procedures and guidance for staff and volunteers working with restricted funds
  • Ensuring that appropriate controls exist to separately monitor and manage restricted funds within RBL’s overall cash and investment portfolio
  • Overseeing the rollout of Online Banking and contactless projects with support from the Branch and Restricted Funds Manager

You will be a CCAB qualified Accountant with significant experience working in similar role(s) in a large, complex organisation, with experience of working within the charity sector and with specific responsibility for managing and reporting on restricted funds.

You will be contracted to our Haig House hub with a minimum expectation of two days per week working in person at the hub and flexibility for working remotely/at home when not on site.
