Senior BA / Project Manager – Data Services (Risk & P&L)
Location: London, UK
Working Pattern: 50% Hybrid (3 days onsite required)
Contract Length: Initial 6-Month Contract
Rate: Competitive Day Rate (Inside IR35)
Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Business Analyst / Project Manager to join a leading global investment banking organisation within its Risk & P&L Data Services function. This is a high-profile contract opportunity for a delivery-focused professional who can combine deep business analysis expertise with strong project management capabilities to drive strategic data initiatives across Global Markets technology.
The successful candidate will work across technology, risk, finance, trading, and quantitative teams, delivering enhancements and managing complex projects that support the firm's risk, P&L, and financial reporting platforms.
The Role
You will play a key role within the Data Services team, responsible for analysing business requirements, managing project delivery, and ensuring solutions meet both business and technical objectives. The position requires a strong understanding of market risk, P&L processes, and investment banking data flows, alongside excellent stakeholder management and delivery skills.
Key Responsibilities
Business Analysis
- Conduct detailed functional, technical, and numerical analysis for Risk & P&L related technology initiatives.
- Act as a subject matter expert on risk and P&L data processes.
- Gather, analyse, and document business and technical requirements.
- Produce high-quality artefacts including:
- Business requirements documents
- Functional specifications
- Data flow diagrams
- Use cases
- Test scenarios and test cases
- Liaise between business stakeholders, technology teams, risk management, middle office, and quantitative teams to ensure successful solution delivery.

Project Management
- Manage end-to-end delivery of projects and enhancements within Risk & P&L Data Services.
- Define project plans, milestones, and delivery schedules.
- Track progress, manage dependencies, and provide regular stakeholder reporting.
- Identify and proactively manage project risks, issues, and mitigations.
- Coordinate delivery across multiple business and technology teams globally.
Additional Responsibilities
- Support strategic initiatives across the Risk & P&L technology estate.
- Contribute to the evolution of data services architecture and platform capabilities.
- Provide production support and assist with the resolution of data quality and system issues when required.
- Build strong relationships with key stakeholders across Front Office, Risk, Finance, and Technology functions.
Required Experience
- Proven experience as a Senior Business Analyst and/or Project Manager within Investment Banking.
- Strong understanding of Risk and P&L processes and associated data flows.
- Experience delivering complex regulatory, risk, data, or trading technology projects.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Experience working across global delivery teams and multiple business functions.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Essential Domain Knowledge
- Strong experience in several of the following areas:
- Trading Risk
- Risk Sensitivities
- Value at Risk (VaR)
- P&L Attribution
- Independent Price Verification (IPV)
- Official P&L
- Stress Testing
- Market Data Management
- Risk Aggregation and Reporting
Technical Skills
- Business analysis methodologies and requirements management.
- Project planning, tracking, and governance.
- Data analysis and investigation skills.
- Python, SQL, R, Pandas, NumPy, or similar data-focused technologies desirable.
- Understanding of investment banking technology architecture, including:
- Trade Capture
- Market Data
- Risk Calculations
- Data Aggregation
- Reporting Platforms
Desirable Experience
- Experience within Global Markets technology environments.
- Knowledge of Rates, FX, Equities, or Commodities products.
- Exposure to Risk & P&L data platforms and data services architecture.
