Senior Business Analyst
Senior Business Analyst – P3M Transformation
Job Summary
The customer is seeking a Senior Business Analyst to support requirements gathering for their P3M (Portfolio, Programmes, and Projects Management) transformation within capital projects. The role requires strong P3M experience in capital projects and involves working with business stakeholders to gather, validate, and finalise requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Requirement gathering:
- Lead requirement gathering workshops and interviews with business users.
- Prepare a requirements catalogue.
- Process Mapping & Modelling:
- Lead the mapping of business processes to Level 2 and Level 3 detail, using industry-standard modelling techniques like MS Visio BPMN.
- As-Is & To-Be Analysis:
- Document current ("As-Is") workflows and design improved ("To-Be") target operating models aligned with strategic goals.
- Business Architecture & Capability Mapping:
- Develop and maintain business capability reference models.
- Map capability functionality to architectural artefacts (e.g., data models, application architecture).
- Stakeholder Workshops:
- Facilitate workshops with SME (Subject Matter Expert) stakeholders to elicit, analyse, and validate requirements.
- Root Cause Analysis:
- Investigate business problems using root cause analysis to recommend process improvements, such as automation or re-engineering.
- Gap Analysis & Change Impact:
- Perform gap analysis to identify inconsistencies, inefficiencies, and risks between current and future states.
- Documentation:
- Prepare process documentation, functional specifications, and business requirements documents (BRDs).

Required Skills & Qualifications
- Experience:
- 10+ years in a business analyst role, with a focus on process design, process optimization, or business architecture.
- Modelling Tools:
- Proficient in modelling tools like MS Visio or Blueworks Live.
- Deep understanding of BPMN (Business Process Model and Notation).
- Analytical Skills:
- Strong ability to analyse complex data sets, Oracle Primavera or equivalent products, and translate them into process maps.
- Process Skill:
- Capital asset management
- Capital delivery process and P3M
- Industry Skill:
- Water industry, regulated industry experience in the UK.
- Communication:
- Strong stakeholder communication skills.
- Ability to work independently with a logical approach to requirements definition.
- Ability to bridge the gap between technical teams and non-technical business units.
- Cross-functional communication.
