4i Pumping Services specializes in the specification, installation, servicing, and corrective maintenance of fresh water and sewage pumps, along with associated control systems. The company works across a range of infrastructure, including pump stations, treatment plants, adoptable sewers, booster sets, boreholes, and control panels. Through comprehensive technical solutions and responsive maintenance, 4i Pumping Services supports reliable water and wastewater management for its clients. Team members gain exposure to diverse projects and equipment types, contributing to essential services in the utilities and infrastructure sector.
Role Description
The Senior Business Development Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in Woolpit. This position is responsible for identifying and pursuing new business opportunities, developing long-term client relationships, and expanding the company’s presence in target markets. - Prospecting and qualifying leads
- Conducting client meetings and site visits
- Preparing proposals and quotations
- Negotiating contract terms in collaboration with internal stakeholders

The role involves working closely with technical and operations teams to ensure solutions are appropriately scoped and delivered, tracking sales performance, and reporting on pipeline and revenue forecasts. The Senior Business Development Manager also contributes to strategic planning, market analysis, and continuous improvement of sales processes and customer experience.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience in business development, sales, or account management within engineering, utilities, construction, or related technical sectors.
- Strong relationship-building, communication, and negotiation skills, with the ability to engage confidently with clients, suppliers, and internal teams.
- Ability to understand and discuss technical solutions related to pumps, water and wastewater systems, and associated controls (prior industry experience highly beneficial).
- Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets, managing pipelines, and using CRM or similar tools for reporting and forecasting.
- Solid analytical and commercial skills, including market research, opportunity assessment, and pricing or contract review.
- Organized and self-directed work style, with strong time management skills and the ability to handle multiple concurrent opportunities.
- Comfort working on-site in Woolpit, visiting customer locations as required, and collaborating closely with operational and engineering colleagues.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in business, engineering, or a related field is preferred.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to client sites when needed.
