Senior Business Development Manager

Location: London
Work Model: Hybrid
Salary: £110,000 - £122,000

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior BD Manager to join a leading international law firm's Business Development team. This role will partner closely with senior stakeholders and Partners to develop and deliver strategic business development initiatives across Banking & Credit, Corporate M&A, Private Equity, and Funds. The successful candidate will lead high-profile pitches, client engagement strategies, marketing campaigns, and team development while driving business growth across key practice areas.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement strategic business development plans with Partners and practice groups.
  • Lead the preparation of high-quality pitches, proposals, and RFP responses to secure new business.
  • Conduct client, market, and competitor analysis to identify growth opportunities.
  • Manage key client programmes and support strategic client relationship development.
  • Coordinate marketing materials, practice credentials, brochures, and online content.
  • Plan and deliver client events, seminars, and networking initiatives in collaboration with internal teams.
  • Manage legal directory submissions and support PR and thought leadership activities.
  • Drive the effective use of CRM systems, business development technology, and data-driven reporting.
  • Mentor and support junior Business Development team members while leading cross-functional projects and process improvements.

  • 2–4 years' experience in business development within a law firm or professional services environment, ideally supporting transactional practices.
  • Degree educated with strong commercial awareness and relationship management skills.
  • Proven experience delivering successful pitches, client development initiatives, and marketing campaigns.
  • Experience using CRM systems and business development technologies.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and presentation skills, with confidence engaging at Partner level.
  • Strong project management, organisational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills, particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
