Read more here https://www.montagu-evans.co.uk/about/diversity/ ROLE OVERVIEW The Business Development Manager (BDM) will play a key role in driving the continued growth of the Business Rates team with a national remit but a primary focus on central London occupiers, landlords and investors. The role combines commercial awareness, relationship management and sector intelligence to identify opportunities, build connections and support the Ratings team / Partners to win and retain high-value client relationships. Ideally based in London (or able to attend the London office on a frequent basis) and working day-to-day alongside the Rating team, the role is positioned to assist in generating new business development activity in key sectors and geographies. The role will sit alongside and be integrated into the Rating team, and the BDM will have a responsibility to proactively engage across the team to identify existing key strength areas and go to market opportunities. There will be a responsibility to spark new leads, gain insight into live instructions and market movements, and translate these into tangible revenue generating / sales / new business opportunities. This is a proactive, relationship-led position collaborating with Rating Advisory Partners and where appropriate the wider Montagu Evans network to strengthen market presence, support client origination strategies and promote cross-service collaboration. MAIN DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES, ACCOUNTABILITIES Identify and qualify new business rates opportunities through targeted market research. Support Rating Partners in developing and executing client engagement strategies across key markets. Track market activity, including relocations, lease events, developments and investment transactions. In collaboration with the firm’s Pitch & Pursuits team, coordinate and support preparation of pitches, proposals and client presentations. Develop and maintain a structured pipeline of leads and opportunities, ensuring regular Partner updates. Enhance Montagu Evans’ market profile through networking, industry events or targeted campaigns. Support internal initiatives aimed at improving business development processes, reporting and intelligence gathering. Act as an ambassador for the firm’s brand, values and professional standards in all client and market interactions. DESIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATION Proven experience in sales, lead origination, business developmentor client relationship management within professional services - prior experience in business rates is highly preferable Strong understanding of the London commercial property market, particularly within the occupier and investor community. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage confidently with senior stakeholders and Partners. Commercial awareness and an ability to identify and articulate client needs and opportunities. Highly organised, with strong attention to detail and an ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously. Collaborative mindset and enthusiasm for working within a partnership environment. Experience using CRM systems, business intelligence tools and Microsoft Office applications. Proactive and self-motivated, with a professional and credible approach to relationship building. Ability to produce high-quality written materials, proposals and presentations. Knowledge of the business rates system or wider property advisory services (desirable but not essential).
