Senior Business Development Manager – London / Manchester area

Senior Business Development Manager – UK Electronic Security Market

About the Role

The Senior Business Development Manager is tasked with driving RISCO’s growth across the UK market, focusing on:

  • Acquiring new customers
  • Developing strategic partnerships
  • Expanding market presence

This is a highly field-focused hunter role, centred on:

  • Generating new business opportunities
  • Proactively securing new clients
  • Expanding market share

The ideal candidate will own the entire new business cycle—from prospecting and opportunity development through commercial negotiation to deal closure, with a primary emphasis on winning new accounts rather than managing existing ones.

Upon onboarding, customer ownership will be transferred to the relevant Account Manager for long-term retention.


Key Responsibilities

Business Development & Market Expansion

  • Identify, develop, and secure new business opportunities across the UK market within assigned territories.
  • Generate qualified leads through:
    • Proactive prospecting
    • Networking
    • Referrals
    • Direct customer engagement
  • Discover new verticals, market segments, and routes to market that drive growth.
  • Increase market presence and share by acquiring new customers and strategic opportunities.
  • Build and nurture relationships with:
    • Prospective customers
    • Strategic partners
    • Key industry stakeholders

Sales Execution

  • Manage the full sales cycle, from prospect to closing deals.
  • Conduct customer-facing activities, including:
    • Meetings
    • Commercial presentations
    • Product demonstrations
    • Solution discussions
  • Prepare and deliver:
    • Proposals
    • Quotations
    • Commercial offers
  • Lead commercial negotiations to secure profitable agreements.
  • Achieve or exceed agreed sales and new business growth targets.

Strategic Relationship Building

  • Develop connections with:
    • Decision-makers
    • Influencers
    • Key industry stakeholders
  • Represent RISCO at:
    • Industry events
    • Trade shows
    • Exhibitions
    • Networking forums
  • Explore partnerships with:
    • Installers
    • Integrators
    • Distributors & channel partners

CRM Documentation, Reporting & Collaboration

  • Ensure accurate CRM documentation, including:
    • Meetings
    • Opportunities
    • Quotations
    • Forecasts
    • Follow-ups
  • Maintain updated sales pipeline and forecasting data.
  • Provide regular reports to management, including:
    • Performance updates
    • Customer insights
    • Account updates
    • Market feedback
    • Competitive intelligence
  • Collaborate with Sales Engineers to deliver technical solutions.
  • Work with Marketing to enhance lead generation and campaign effectiveness.
  • Ensure a smooth handover of customers to Account Management post-onboarding.

Requirements

  • 5 years of successful new business sales experience within the UK electronic security industry – mandatory.
    • Must demonstrate a strong industry network and deep market knowledge.
  • Proven ability to consistently exceed new business sales targets.
  • Experience in managing the entire sales cycle (propecting → negotiation → closure).
  • Direct experience working with:
    • Installers
    • Integrators
    • Distributors
    • Channel partners in the security market.
  • Strong:
    • Commercial acumen
    • Negotiation skills
    • Presentation abilities
    • Relationship-building capabilities
  • Technical understanding of electronic security solutions (advantageous but not mandatory).
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and results-driven, with a strong hunter mentality.
  • Valid UK driving licence with willingness to travel extensively across the UK.
  • Fluent in English – mandatory.
