Job Title: Senior Business Development Manager – Maritime
Location: Portsmouth (Minimum 3 days onsite per week)
Term: Up to April 2027
Day Rate: £DOE
IR35: INSIDE
Security Clearance: BPSS required | SC preferred
Are you an experienced Business Development leader with a strong background in the Maritime Defence sector?
We require someone to take ownership of an annual order intake of £15M+, developing and delivering growth strategies across a 3–5 year horizon while building strong relationships with customers, partners and internal stakeholders.
This is a highly visible role where you will influence business strategy, lead major capture activities and help secure future Maritime Defence programmes.

Key Responsibilities
- Own annual order intake, margin and mobilisation targets
- Lead business generation activities and convert opportunities into winning solutions
- Build and strengthen relationships across Defence customers, partners and strategic stakeholders
- Lead and oversee complex bids and proposals, ensuring competitive and commercially robust submissions
- Forecast orders and revenue while supporting long-term business growth
- Work collaboratively across engineering, delivery and commercial teams to ensure successful programme outcomes

Background & Experience Sought
- Proven experience in a senior Business Development or Sales leadership role
- Strong Maritime Defence sector knowledge
- Experience leading capture, bids and winning complex Defence opportunities
- Excellent stakeholder engagement skills with customers, partners and senior leadership
- A track record of influencing, coaching and leading high-performing teams
- Commercial awareness with an understanding of engineering and programme delivery
