About Granular Energy

Granular Energy is a fast-growing climate tech startup accelerating the transition to a carbon-free grid. We provide a portfolio management platform and trading services that enable hourly matching between clean energy generation and consumption at scale. Our platform helps utilities, suppliers, and energy traders navigate a decarbonised energy landscape.

Initially founded in 2021, our team now consists of ~30 people. We serve clients across the US, Europe, and Asia with our head office situated in western Europe. Join us to contribute directly to the climate transition—your work will drive meaningful impact.

Remote Work & Team Culture

The Opportunity

Granular’s core platform has achieved strong product-market fit, with customers globally. Now, we seek a product leader to spearhead next-gen energy solutions, addressingadjacent markets like:

  • Battery options & virtual toll marketplaces
  • ETRM (Enterprise Trading & Risk Management) extensions for trading desks
  • ESNA (Energy Securities and Net Asset Products)-related innovations
  • Other adjacent opportunities emerging from energy transitions

You are expected to lead from zero to one—identifying scalable opportunities, researching the market, prototyping, and acquiring prominent paying customers early. This role is perfect for an entrepreneur with a commercial mindset and a passion for building innovative, climate-positive solutions.


Key Responsibilities

Strategic Product Development

  • Support sales of our core platform with market insights
  • Identify and evaluate new commercial opportunities adjacent to our primary offering
  • Conduct primary market research through expert and customer interviews
  • Develop business cases for prototypes, presenting to the executive team
  • Handemanaged opportunities to the commercial and product teams for scaling

Prototype & Early Sales

  • Create minimal-viable prototypes using modern AI tooling (e.g., Claude, Cursor, Replit)
  • Demo prototypes to prospective clients
  • Run small-scale market tests
  • Acquire first revenue sources from existing or new customers

Collaboration & Execution

  • Work closely with commercial, product, and engineering teams to validate, launch, and scale prospects
  • Communicate findings clearly to both technical and executive stakeholders

Experience & Skills: Must-Haves

  • 5+ years of direct experience in the power market, ideally from one of:

    • Energy consulting
    • Trading (utility, independent power producer, or fund-based)
    • Corporate development / strategy within an energy company
  • Proven ability to spot and execute new commercial opportunities—your mindset should be entrepreneurial, comfortable doing work without all the assumptions nailed down

  • Strong network across the UK and European power market, including connections with:

    • Suppliers
    • Traders
    • Generators
    • Optimisers
    • Regulators
  • Fast-thinking, strategic approach: Ability to quickly transition from market pattern, to product thesis, to validated opportunity

  • Technical hands-on capability: Experience building and demonstrating prototypes independently using AI tools

  • Strong commercial acumen with a willingness to hit the ground running on early-stage sales

  • Effective communicator who delegates effectively and can represent Granular to external stakeholders

Bonus Experience

  • Experience in startups or remote environments
  • Direct market experience in flexibility, battery, EAC (Energy Attribute Certifications), or hourly matching
  • Product management or application development experience
  • Existing relationships with Tier 1 utility suppliers, IPPs, energy traders, or corporate energy buyers
