Position Summary
The Senior Business Development Manager will drive and implement strategic, revenue-generating business development initiatives for the Restructuring, Finance & Tax practices based in London. Responsibilities include:
- Aligning efforts with firm global goals and depicting market leadership.
- Advising fee earners of all levels as a trusted strategist.
- Collaborating between London/European offices and the US on practice integration.
- Managing at least one direct report.
Key Responsibilities
Strategy and Client Engagement
- Develop and execute client targeting programs, including pursuit activities, trackingin pursuit activities, and forecast reporting.
- Lead drafting and coordination of cross-practice RFPs and client pitches.
- Guide lateral hires on client onboarding, integration, and integration with firm initiatives, including tracking progress via Salesforce.

Cross-Selling and Opportunity Development
- Identify and execute practice-wide cross-selling strategies (e.g., developing economic-focused–out opportunities, go-to–marketing strategies, and collaboration with peers).
- Conduct industry research to stay ahead on competitors, market trends, and potential new business opportunities.
Event Management and Profiling
- Organise firm-hosted events (e.g., lunches, receptions) to strengthen engagement with clients, lawyers, and internal teams. Responsibilities include:
- Chair projects from invitation list development to participant tracking and follow-up.
- Support through marketing promotions/efforts.
Internal Leadership
- Direct budget tracking for member practices, and ensure proper incentives align with business models.
- Manage a first-level direct report, including performance support, career development, and proposal collateral creation.
Business Development Execution
- Project manage presentations/meetings, crafting agendas, patient materials, and post–execution follow-ups.
- Contribute to sponsorship strategies, conferences, and external opportunities.

Qualifications & Work Preferences
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification.
- Min. 10 years of business development/legal experience in a similar role.
- Experience managing others.
- Outstanding project management, prioritisation, and attention-to-detail in fast-paced environments.
- Exceptional presentation skills, written communication ability, and verbal fluency—with comfort engaging senior leaders and collaborative teams.
- Hands-on proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and systems like email and Salesforce.
Criteria
Technical:
- Ability to establish budget controls across practice groups.
- Confidentiality management and fluency with legal systems.
Personality & Mindset:
- Flexible, proactive, and integral to evolving business needs.
