Senior Business Intelligence Analyst

We're seeking an experienced Senior Business Intelligence Analyst to lead a key reporting and data improvement programme within a large, London-based public sector organisation. This role will focus on transforming a complex, spreadsheet-driven reporting environment into a trusted, scalable BI solution using Power BI, SQL, Excel, and Power Apps.

With a strong focus on innovation, data-driven decision making, and continuous improvement, they are investing in modernising reporting capabilities within a business-critical operational function.

Description

  • Analyse and map a complex landscape of Excel-based data sources and reporting processes.
  • Work with business stakeholders to understand data capture, reporting requirements, and KPI definitions.
  • Design and develop Power BI dashboards and reports to support operational and strategic decision-making.
  • Deliver a suite of key performance reporting, including executive-level KPI dashboards.
  • Write SQL queries to cleanse, transform, and prepare data for reporting.
  • Improve data quality, governance, and reporting consistency.
  • Develop Power Apps solutions to support data quality control and validation processes.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across multiple levels of the organisation, translating business requirements into actionable reporting solutions.
  • Drive best practices around data integrity and trusted reporting.

Profile

You will be a highly skilled BI professional who combines strong technical expertise with excellent stakeholder management skills.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Advanced Power BI development experience.
  • Strong SQL skills for data extraction, transformation, and analysis.
  • Advanced Excel expertise.
  • Experience delivering end-to-end BI or analytics projects.
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of outcomes.
  • Experience working with complex, fragmented, or poorly governed datasets.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a passion for data quality.

Desirable Experience

  • Power Apps development experience.
  • Experience establishing KPI frameworks and reporting standards.
  • Exposure to public sector or highly regulated environments.
  • Experience implementing data governance improvements.

Job Offer

  • Initial 3-month contract with strong likelihood of extension (expected 3-6 months).
  • Day rates - £350 per day (Inside IR35)
  • Hybrid working arrangement with 2 days per week on-site in Central London.
