About The Role

Consumer is one of BT’s largest customer-facing business units, bringing together the EE, BT and Plusnet brands to serve more than 25 million customers across the UK. Consumer sits at the heart of BT’s transformation and is the frontline of that change. It is where strategy meets customers in their tens of millions and where our customers feel the impact of the work we're doing. Joining Consumer means working in a fast-paced, high-impact environment where the decisions you influence will be felt across one of the UK's most important infrastructure businesses.

The Senior Business Manager role is pivotal to enabling effectiveness of the Consumer CEO and their Leadership Team. The role is directly responsible for leading end-to-end planning on behalf of the Consumer CEO including development of the annual Consumer Operating Plan, leading special projects to drive business performance, and overseeing delivery and continuous improvement of strategic reporting to enable collective, insight-driven decision making across the Consumer Leadership Team.

This role is a trusted partner to the Consumer CEO, translating their ambitions into disciplined execution. The role sits at the very heart of Consumer's executive leadership team with responsibility for ensuring the highest standard of operational rigour to drive effective decision making in support of delivering brilliant products and services for our customers. This role offers unparalleled exposure to the most senior levels of a FTSE 100 business and provides a stepping stone for progression into leadership roles in strategy, commercial or transformation within Consumer or BT.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Act as a trusted adviser to the Consumer CEO and Leadership Team, shaping priorities, challenging thinking and enabling high-quality decision making.
  • Coordinate the Consumer Operating Plan, including governance, planning, reporting, business reviews and continuous improvement, ensuring effective delivery against business priorities.
  • Lead the organisational effectiveness of the Consumer Leadership Team by evolving governance, decision-making forums and operating rhythms.
  • Own Consumer's strategic and management reporting capability, delivering actionable insights and driving automation and AI-enabled improvements where appropriate.
  • Lead special projects on behalf of the CEO, providing structured analysis and recommendations to improve business performance.
  • Shape the CEO's strategic narrative and readiness for Executive Committee, Board and other key internal and external engagements.
  • Lead governance for the Consumer Leadership Team meeting, ensuring agendas, decisions, actions and materials support effective leadership and delivery.
  • Lead CEO readiness for external and internal engagements (e.g. Board, regulator, investors)
  • Lead and develop a small, high-performing team, creating opportunities for coaching, growth and cross-functional collaboration.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
