Senior Business Analyst
Organisation NATS is the UK’s leading air navigation service provider, handling over 2.4 million flights each year. We provide air traffic control services from two control centres and at airports around the UK. Additionally, we develop a range of commercial products and solutions internationally. - Salary: £72,094.66 – £96,126.21 p.a.

Job Purpose & Overview
Lead the identification, analysis, and prioritisation of complex business problems across NATS, delivering high-quality requirements and actionable insights to support projects, programmes, and organisational change.
As a key member of the Business & Requirements Analysis Team, the successful candidate will:
- Collaborate closely with stakeholders and project teams to define scope.
- Analyse solutions and ensure change specifications align with business needs and NATS Strategy for effective delivery.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Business Analysis & Requirements Management
- Elicit, refine, and document requirements, business models, and organisation designs using techniques such as workshops, interviews, modelling, and textual analysis—ensuring alignment with business needs and strategy.
- Lead investigations into complex business or requirements problems by:
- Applying effective stakeholder management, analysis, and communication.
- Defining problems, evaluating solution(s), and providing clear conclusions and recommendations, including contributions to business cases.
- Support programme and project managers in clarifying:
- Scope, outcomes, and deliverables.
- Ensuring alignment with NATS Strategy.

Team Management & Quality Assurance
- Task manage a small team of analysts, providing:
- Day-to-day direction.
- Mentoring and coaching to support skill development and delivery quality.
- Conduct independent peer reviews of business and requirements documentation, ensuring high-quality, clear outputs that cut through complexity.
Autonomy & Accountability
- Operate with a high degree of independence, including:
- Managing and organising own work.
- Resolving moderately complex issues and ensuring output aligns with quality standards.
- Escalate only significant issues, engaging senior stakeholders for task-specific decisions and reporting to line managers for wider considerations.
Job Scope
- Engage with diverse stakeholders with distinct organisational roles.
- Apply analysis techniques to identify and prioritise stakeholder needs.
- Develop coherent, high-quality deliverables and communicate them effectively through appropriate media and channels.
Essential Skills & Experience
Foundation Requirements
- A numerate background with an RQF Level 4 qualification in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM).
- Alternative qualifications (e.g., BCS International Diploma or equivalent) will be considered where combined with:
- A proven track record in business and requirements analysis.

- Demonstrated ability to:
- Investigate business problems.
- Analyse data and provide actionable recommendations to support project and programme delivery.
- Proven experience in requirements activities, including:
- Elicitation, analysis, and change management.
- Medium-sized projects using agile and waterfall methodologies.
- Experience developing high-quality documentation, including:
- Business models.
- Organisation designs.
- Feasibility assessments that have informed decision-making.
- Proficiency in:
- Selecting, applying, and adapting structured analysis and modelling techniques (e.g., from industry frameworks), tailoring them to organisational needs.
- Strong problem-solving capabilities to:
- Discern critical facts in complex situations and offer stakeholders effective guidance.
- Exceptional communication skills:
- Verbal, listening, written, and visual.
- Experience engaging stakeholders across all levels and facilitating workshops that produce documented outputs.
- Track record of:
- Building rapid relationships with stakeholders.
- Developing credibility while delivering measurable results.
