Senior Business Support Assistant – Employability Service (Fixed-Term, Part-Time)
NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is one of the largest healthcare systems in the United Kingdom, employing approximately 40,000 staff across clinical and non-clinical professions. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health services to a population of over 1.15 million people (extending to 2.2 million when regional and national services are included).
About the Role
We are seeking a motivated and experienced Senior Business Support Assistant to provide administrative support services on a fixed-term basis (until 31st March 2027).
You will support the Health Improvement Team, which manages the Employability Service across four HSCP services:
- ESTEEM
- Family Nurse Partnership
- Youth Health Service
- Social Work Intensive Monitoring Service
IMPORTANT: All roles will be assessed for sponsorship eligibility in line with current Home Office requirements. NHSGGC can only issue a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) where assistance is met.
Duration, Location & Working Pattern
- Fixed-term until: 31st March 2027
- Hours: 18 hours per week (part-time) (Monday to Friday, 09:00 – 17:00)
- Location: West House, Gartnavel General Hospital
- Salary: Pro rata for part-time hours
Key Responsibilities
You will provide comprehensive administrative support to ensure the effective delivery of the Employability Service, including:
- Supporting programme monitoring requirements
- Maintaining accurate data within the Hanlon Employability System
- Collaborating closely with Employability Coaches

Daily Duties:
- Managing day-to-day administrative tasks
- Handling confidential information and enquiries
- Coordinating meetings, preparing agendas, and taking minutes
- Planning and organising workload effectively
- Problem-solving to manage competing priorities and deadlines
- Working independently and collaboratively within a small team and broader service network
Requirements
Knowledge, Training & Experience
- Proven experience in a business support or administrative role
- HNC or SVQ Level 3 in a business-related subject or equivalent experience
- Strong organisational, planning, and time-management skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Experience in managing priorities, problem-solving, and deadlines
- Proficiency in organising meetings and producing detailed, accurate minutes
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
- Exceptional attention to detail
- Experience in handling confidential information securely
- Familiarity with electronic data management systems (preferably Hanlon Employability System – desirable)
